Mr Ghomeshi is lucky that Lucy isn't the vengeful type. She could have gotten this guy to go after him. My football career lasted all of 20 minutes, I had to block him in a practice scrimmage.

Fine, but what I can't understand for the life of me, is why that actress on Trailer Park Boys who dated him, didn't go to the police after the assault?

He's not her employer or a gangster who might instill fear in her or threaten her job/life.

Is it because he at the time was a famous radio host who had more credibility than she did, if she talked? (One would think that she would tell the cops to keep it private, so it wouldn't be publicized). She would have the force of the authorities and public prosecutor on her side. She wouldn't have to hire a lawyer.

Is it because after the fact, she had no bruises or physical proof to make a case?

I don't understand. Can someone shed some light.
I would figure the answer is because she didn't believe (or she feared the police and/or press wouldn't believe) it was sexual assault (seeing as how they were already making out with her consent, and he didn't forcibly escalate the sex), or battery (seeing as how Ghomeshi obviously felt it was part of a "sexual" game)...

A girl willingly goes up to a guys room expecting to engage in some level of sexual congress, and finds herself being slapped around as an unwilling participant in some hate sex game.. I can very easily see how many women would feel that they might not necessarily be victims.. Just unlucky to be with a psycho in the bedroom..

Ok, so she wasn't sure ... but if he punched them in the face, they would have a black eye or bruises (not that the latter are necessary for an assault charge).

.... which begs the question. Is his lawyer incompetent or did he not listen to him/her? I agree that his FB post didn't help.
If it wasn't Ghomeshi acting impulsively on his own accord it does seem like someone gave him terrible advice... maybe they really thought he was totally innocent. At this point I wonder if his PR firm would be thinking about dropping him because their association with Ghomeshi is such bad PR for them!

Lucy says it was specifically Jian's denials and justifications in his original Facebook post that made her want to speak out...

Ms. DeCoutere, who is also a member of the Canadian Forces, said that it was the “world’s smallest surprise” when the allegations came flooding out. But it was Mr. Ghomeshi’s rebuttal on his Facebook page that angered her to act.

She said it read like he was a “narcissist” who “immediately puts himself in the position of the victim.” In his post he mentioned how he was still dealing with the recent death of his father and talked about his vindictive ex-girlfriend.

Ms. DeCoutere suggested that he felt he is being ostracized because of his sexual preferences. “This is not correct,” she said. “I don’t think anybody cares about what Jian does in his own bedroom unless he is hurting people who don’t want to be hurt.”

I've been punched in the face many times and not had any bruises left.. However, even if one was left with bruises, it wouldn't change any of what I have already written.. They could very easily feel (or worry that somebody else would feel) that they weren't really victims of anything... And that they (or others) would feel that they were simply just regretting getting involved in some kinky sexual behaviour that maybe ended up not being to their liking..

I can vouch for the whole narcissist thing. They are very charming, engaging, fund to be with, until you get to know them. The moment things go bad, no matter how small, it's never their fault. They are the ones being victimized, etc. I had to deal with a narcissist for a little over twenty years due to a family & business situation. A few things remained constant. One, she had no comprehension of how she came across to other people. Many times this adult woman threw tantrums, behaved recklessly, and offended people, much like a young child who hasn't been socialized yet and uses screams and rampages to get what they want. Two, apologies? Those are for weaklings and for people who are guilty of doing bad stuff. This woman always found a way to foist the blame elsewhere for what she did, like saying someone close to her had died, etc. Sometimes the excuses were paranormal. No narcissist would ever issue an apology unless doing so would make them look good. Humility is not in their vocabulary. Three, since, according to a narcissist, the world revolves around them, anything that offends them was done to offend them. They don't see other people as autonomous individuals, but rather as bit players in the show that is their life.

Thank you. I read and bookmarked that article.

However, she admits that any criminal defense lawyer worth their salt will question why a crime wasn't reported.

She's correct to say that we shouldn't blame these girls for not reporting their assaults, but we should educate and take other measures that encourages victims to speak up too.

I think we can all agree this is one of the weirdest stories to come out of T-dot yet. I mean who the hell beats women on their first date. Something seriously wrong with you, buddy

From what I see is the women he chose to take home with him were likely infatuated with him. They've only ever seen him as a soft spoken, good looking, charming and respectful man. They would have had no reason to suspect he was a violent sexual predator who gets off on beating up women. Who would have ever have suspected he was like that before this story broke?

These women likely thought this only happened to them and were scared to go to police. After all, he was a powerful figure in their eyes and I'm sure they figured it would have been his word against theirs. Then there's the embarrassment of being cross-examined on the stand and having every little last detail about your life exposed.

He has such a huge ego and has all the hallmarks of being a sociopath/sexual predator. You can see this by his initial Facebook post where he essentially challenged the Star to release their story. Since they printed the story, more and more are coming forward. I wouldn't be surprised if charges are eventually laid. The good news is now that all this has come to light, the girl who goes to the Police will now be seen as a hero. There's a lot more to come ladies and gentlemen!

BDSM my ass!

Yeah, this quote is particularly bizarre: "Information came to our attention recently that in CBC's judgment precludes us from continuing our relationship with Jian," What the hell does that mean? Hope he is successful is suing that organization into the stone age. It's been bleeding for far too long.
Change your mind yet?

Anyone else still think he's innocent?
