I quit a few years ago, don't give up its worth it.

I have an app on my phone that tracks all the money I saved (7518 cigarettes, $3800) and reminds you of all the health issues you're avoiding.

One more interesting category would be who used to smoke but quit for more than 10 years.

I have never had a ciggy in my entire life. Fortunately I have a number of other vices to compensate for this.

Never even taken a puff from a cigarette.

Though I grew up in a house where the air was blue from the old man smoking 2 packs a day. Smoked in the kitchen, smoked in the living room, smoked in the basement, smoked in the car packed with kids. Seemed like there were ashes, ash trays, and butts everywhere when I was growing up. This is the reason I never even tried it, but my exposure to second hand smoke was severe as a kid.

On the road with Willy
Growing up on the farm my parents used to have a lot of people come over on the weekends from the city for fruit, veggies etc. The barnyard looked like an L.A. traffic jam. Eastern European thing was everybody brought food, booze and it usually turned into something of a party. I remember standing outside the house and seeing blue smoke billowing out the open windows, especially from the kitchen. Ash trays everywhere, kids running around, drunken people, the whole caboodle. At that time I probably smoked more second hand smoke as a kid than most people do in a lifetime of primary smoking. Never attracted me. I'm a Coke head. I've tried to quit a million times but I always go back to my habit of 4-5 cans a day. My hands shake when I don't have it for a few days. No it's not for lack of caffine, I drink tea, coffee.

I quit smoking a month ago. I'm using the e-cigarettes......well they are actually the second generation e-cigarette. It's referred to as "vaping". It's not really like smoking at all (the vaporizer does not look like a cigarette and you don't hold it like one). It takes awhile to get used to. There IS nicotine in the liquid, but I started with the lowest level of nicotine you can get. You can get some really yummy flavours of liquid.

So, I guess I've just traded one vice for another, but at least with this one I'm not getting all the other chemicals that come in a cigarette, I'm taking in a way lower level of nicotine, I don't stink, I don't have horrible smoker's breath and it actually tastes good..........and no second hand smoke for others (although the government is trying to make them out to be as bad as cigarettes). I CAN tell you, I feel a lot better and notice a difference in my fitness levels even in just one month :) Someone even told me recently my skin smells different.....I thought that was interesting.......lol. :)

I'm in that category. Quit cold turkey about 18 years ago after smoking for about 20 years.

Those smelly, disgusting, feeble-minded losers serve a purpose - they're the last group we're allowed to shame.

yes... but not in the Terb Group Quit Smoking Effort Thread ... this thread must be free from shame, free from condescension, and free from insults.

This is a thread for support, where we can share our efforts, our relapses, and hopefully, eventually our success stories :D

you feel me?
No way, you weakling!
Shaming is far more enjoyable, people might even pay for the pleasure if we start that type of group.
