I find it sad that Ford still drinks in his school parking lot and in parks. Is he still 16?

I wonder if Blair smply had enough. I think he may have realized the circus would have continued the video would hhave possobly come out around election time. That would have created a farce of the election.
I think its fair to say the citizens want the election based on the issues. Personalities will always come onto play both sides are tired of not knowing. He may well have done this city a great service by clearing the air. Hopefully somehow the Mayor comes to his senses and resigns now. Let's the city heal. Then we as citizens can choose what direction we want the city to go in.

The size of this thread speaks volumes of the need to end this.

Looks like the extortion relates to the people thought to be in possession or know about the cell phone video, Siad, Elaine & Fabio.

For Lisi to be convicted of extortion, do the police need victims willing to testify in court?
Or alive???

There's no such drug charge as distributing, and the occupation of the victim has nothing to do with a charge of robbing or extorting. If you acquire stolen property you're in trouble even if you bought it in ignorance. You didn't rob the original thief of goods that were his, but you could still get charged, or at best have to return the goods. Being on your own to collect your money from the thief might tempt even you or I to try extortion.
Never claimed to be a lawyer... trafficking?? distributing?

From the Star

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2013/11/01/rob_ford_toronto_finally_knows_the_truth.html
And in the success of his malign campaign, he proved how fragile the truth can be if our chosen leaders lead their followers astray.
Mr. Ford and his thuggish brother, Councillor Doug Ford, used their media access to label the news reporters of this city as pathological liars and anti-democratic maggots.

The Fords urged their loyalists to cancel their subscriptions to the Toronto Star and to pull their advertisements.
The Star’s owners and journalists were accused of pursuing an ideological vendetta against Ford. Star reporting was denounced as harassment. Called delusional.

Ford acolytes hauled the paper before the Ontario Press Council, charging that the Star’s use of unnamed sources was unethical and that the media’s focus on the issue was detrimental to the democratic life of the city.
Toronto’s divided and querulous council proved powerless to call the mayor to account or defend their own integrity.

Painful as it is, we must acknowledge as a community that the mayor has been startlingly successful in his deceit.
Many citizens, perhaps a majority, have gullibly given credence to Mayor Ford’s lies about his drug use and about the reporters and editors he vindictively targeted.

The public was persuaded to ignore his erratic behaviour and the intense secrecy he insisted on about the hours he kept and the people with whom he spent his time.
Episodes of public intoxication were laughed off (though members of his inner circle conceded the mayor urgently needed intervention).

Latterly, we have heard a little bit about some of the potential harm that comes when a leading official surrounds himself with criminals.
Letters of recommendation have gone out from the mayor’s office for a killer and a drug dealer.

We are likely to learn a good deal more about what has been at risk at city hall in the days ahead.
That about sums it up. The mayor and his thug brother have been bullying, lying and manipulating. A lot of gullible people went along with it. Now we are left with the consequences.

Meanwhile, His Honour is Missing In Action. Nothing new about that.

thanks for the info.

W/out reading through the entire 226 pages, has the actual video been released to the public? If so, is there a link?
No.
Its been entered as evidence for the Lisi trial and according to legal procedure should not become public before that trial.
Even though Ford wants it released, though that could be the crack speaking.

Information filed with regard to charges against Lisi

Alexander LISI sometime between and including the 16th day of May in the year 2013 and the 18th day of May in the year 2013 in the City of Toronto, in the Toronto Region without reasonable justification or excuse and with intent to obtain a digital video recording did induce Mohamed SIAD or Liban SIYAD by threats or violence or menaces to deliver said digital video recording to Alexander LISI Contrary to the Criminal Code
Are we really not going to be able to draw a connection between Rob Ford and the threats of violence towards these guys? Rob Ford and this Lisi pussy spent countless hours together and you're telling me the topic of Lisi threatening these two guys never came up? You're telling me Rob Ford had NO clue what his buddy was up to (supposedly for HIS benefit)? Poppycock!

Rob Ford will get off light if all that happens is he's removed from office..

So I think everyone agreed a long time ago that Ford isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer and has a list of faults as longer than his belt. In fact the only thing good that he has done is not be a "kiss-ass" to the city unions like Miller was. Still waiting for him to be charged with something. In the meantime he has now become totally dysfunctional and should resign.

The Corleones of Etobicoke are almost all represented.

Vito - A well remembered, imposing Patriarch from a previous generation whose sons are trying to follow in his footsteps.

Carmela "Mama" Corleone - A quiet Matriarch relegated to the background who suffers continuously through her children's misgivings knowingly and silent.

Sonny - the bullying, garish brother who can never control his temper or his mouth and although dressed in expensive clothing still looks like a pimp.

Fredo - the loutish, dufus brother: "It ain't the way I wanted it! I can handle things! I'm smart! Not like everybody says... like dumb... I'm smart and I want respect!"

They have no Michael.

Here's the 640am recording that they think was Rob Ford calling in while drunk.
http://boingboing.net/2013/11/01/toronto-mayor-rob-ford-drunk.html

Amazing
You guys will believe anything. Thats wasnt Ford, it was a jokester doing an impersonation.

At the exact same time that call happened Ford was walking his kids through his neighborhood collecting Halloween tricks. He couldnt have made that call, and a few dozen reporters were hounding him and
(if they have any integrity left) will verify that he wasnt on his cellphone at that same timestamp.

Now how stupid do you guys feel??!!
