Actually it came from Gawker, the Star followed up on it, but are not the ones who broke the story. All we have is a grainly photo and claims from two newspaper reporters who work for a paper that has always an agenda against Ford.
True enough. Most (maybe all) news organizations don't pay for information.I don't think that says anything.
The Gawker is trying to raise 200G to buy the video. Apparently the cost has doubled in a few hours.True enough. Most (maybe all) news organizations don't pay for information.
The scandal sheets -- such as the National Enquirer -- will pay, and have paid. That's why you sometimes see scandals breaking in those types of tabloids.
I believe the John Edwards scandal first broke in the National Enquirer.
Some just call it "peaking over fences"...I may be wrong but I recall hearing that the Star doesn't purchase information.
They do however do good investigative journalism (unlike the rest of Toronto's news publications....)
So we're still on the topic of unsubstantiated claims are we?Some just call it "peaking over fences"...
I'm skeptical too but two star reporters going on record as to the contents gets me part of the way there (and the tool that Ford is helps the believability.Ford has been an embarrassment as a mayor. He needs to go.
That said, unless real video is released I am skeptical. ...
Do you have no sense of humour? Can you be slightly more vague? What am I willing to take Ford's word on exactly? The Star is a newspaper with a political agenda, I would hope they have more than their word when they publish, I'm not willing to take their word on anything. You on the other hand seem to be willing to take their word on everything...like a sheep. So we're still on the topic of unsubstantiated claims are we?
Funny how you're so willing to take Rob Ford's word for one thing, and not The Star's word for another.
Addiction isn't class conscious. It works just as well on rich neurochemistry as poor. It's possible he started with a more typical rich man's drug like cocaine classic and "upgraded" to a quicker delivery mechanism after becoming addicted.Ford would never do crack , crack is cheap. He make's too much money to ever smoke crack.
It was a joke referencing something a very famous singer (now deceased) said a few years back.Addiction isn't class conscious. It works just as well on rich neurochemistry as poor. It's possible he started with a more typical rich man's drug like cocaine classic and "upgraded" to a quicker delivery mechanism after becoming addicted.
... of property owned by the city? Some just call it "peaking over fences"...
Why should he? This is another baseless claim. For years the left has attempted to smear Ford personally with little to no success. Where's Stintz now? You mean to tell me these idiots turned down $40K for the tape, this has to be the biggest joke I've ever seen. Gawker.com ya that's a real credible source.Actually it came from Gawker, the Star followed up on it, but are not the ones who broke the story.
That said I agree with you that until the video is out there it's not proof of anything. However, it is a serious allegation, and a serious question mark under neath the mayor's ability to function -- one that appears to be consistent with some of his behavior.
Do you agree that Ford should submit to a drug test to find out of there is cocaine in his system?
The Star suffered a huge hit last month after running that front-page story about MPP Margarett Best:The last time I picked up the Star (I don't live in the GTA) was that bullshit piece they did on Marineland.
