Well, it finally happened. I've read about it happening to other guys, but never happened to me. I've been in and out of this hobby for almost 4 yrs now. I make it a point to not hobby at all in my home town, just in case I run into someone I know. So I often travel to surrounding communities....

So I'm at a hotel staying overnight with my current civvie GF, (having teenaged kids living with me at home make it difficult to "entertain" overnight guests, so its just easier getting a room...), and the GF and myself are returning from a lovely dinner, to have some "dessert" at our room and who do I see in the lobby? An SP, whom I've seen a number of times from Durham area!

We both saw/ and recognized each other, but we both played it cool. It looked to me as if she was with her boy friend...

Note to all hobbyists... It CAN happen... so when it does... don't let on that you know each other. just easier for all concerned.

happen to me, was out for dinner with my bride and "BAM" in walks an SP whom i've seen on multiple occasions, out of the corner of my eye I watch the hostess escort the SP and her date to their table which was only 15' away from ours, as all 3 walked by our table the SP noticed me and did a double take but otherwise was very cool... we exchange PM's later on that night

Hasn't happened to me and I have hobbied around my stompng grounds.

Hope it didn't throw you off your game.
Nope... "Dessert" was excellent! As was midnight snack... and so was breakfast in bed... and second breakfast for that matter! ;)

(and we managed to NOT break anything in the hotel room! :D)

Good advice, Ridgeman. Although it has not happened to me, I'd imagine that both the hobbyist and the SP could be stung by a "knowing glance". Be cool, don't say or do anything to let on, and have a good, PRIVATE, chuckle.

Same thing happened to me a few years back in a grocery store, just got a smile and moved on.
No harm no foul.
I believe the SPs have no interest in outing anyone, them selfs included. They are paid for their services and un written discloser rules are followed.
I believe in good reviews for any visit I take so thanks guys keep it up!
Last thing I want is a crazy SP coming up to me in public and asking when I'll be back.....that'll be bad. Bedroom crazy is fun, public crazy not so much
Inflatable furniture in a basement apartment with a single hot plate burner to follow while sleeping a a futon matterest on the floor.

@ church?!? Well I shouldn't be surprised. I was heavily involved with my church at one time, even considered the priesthood....now look at me. Trolling TERB. Discretion and the art of detachment from ones hobby go hand in hand I think. It only takes one stupid remark to ruin someones life, or hurt their partners feelings, which isn't fair. Then again, hobbying away from your own turf would be smart also!

It happened to me twice, went to a restaurant with my s/o and her kids. The hostess was a girl who I had seen earlier in the week. I could see in her eyes that she recognized me as she must have seen it in mine. Not a word was said,

second time was in public skating, I was tightening the little guys skates when she sat down beside him, when I looked up she had a shocked look on her face. I went to the SC the following day, went to the vip with her and had a chat. it went really well. It was obvious that we lived very close, and through our kids it was likely to happen again. We agreed to be polite but distant in public then raunchy in the vip. The next time I saw her I tied up her kids skates.

Ridgeman, you sound like an amateur (it goes without saying) :p

(Good to remind everyone though. Hobbyists can get carried away when they see an SP they know and can forget about discretion or respect for her privacy).
