The Kitty Yung movie where she is dressed as a nurse with Maxx Hardcore. Or maybe any Bunko Kanazawa or Ai Nagase movie.
For culture, probably The Bridge on the River Kwai.

Rocky 4. When I was a kid I would watch that movie almost everyday after coming home from school. Usually just the fight scene at the end. Still love all the rocky movies to this day.

I used to be able to recite all the "dialogue" in Bloodsport (Jean Claude Van Damme).

"YOU. Are next." "Chong-Li! Chong-Li! Chong-Li!"

How could this thread get to 30 posts, with no mention of The Magnificent Seven? 1960. Wonderful cast! Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, Charles Bronson, Horst Buchholz - and Eli Wallach as the bandit leader. Steve McQueen had some of the worst lines of his career ("We deal in lead, friend.") but being one of the great actors made it sound ok.

Elmer Bernstein music score. Truly brilliant! EB created a separate melodic theme for each character. Masterly use of music to create getting-ready-for-battle tension.

TMS is the second most-shown movie on TV (after Wiz of Oz, F.G's.S.) I paid to see TMS in the cinema maybe 10 times. Seen it on TV maybe thirty times. Then I bought the DVD. Oddly enough, I've never watched the DVD all the way through.

It's a wonderful life.

Not my fav film, but it has been on so many times over the course of my lifetime I cannot begin to count how often I must have watched it.

And how could you mention that movie without citing the one it is based on, Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai?

Take home a bento box and pop in the gorgeous Criterion edition.
This is a classic not only because it set the stage for every 'ragtag group of misfits fighting against insurmountable odds' film of this type from TMS to The Expendables 2, but because it's a really great movie.

Depending on my mood it could range from:
Leon The Professional
I noticed Leon in the DVD bookcase but didn't mention it. Really good flick and great ending. Another classic French heist/crime movie is Bob le Flambeur.
