The Octagon.
The Octagon is great, in Thornhill.

Is Devonsleigh Place still around? It was at Warden and Steeles, your traditional wood panel, no windows type steak place.

If you're more west end, La Castile on Dundas and 427 area is out of this world.

I've always been a suburbanite, don't know what's around downtown except the chains..

I actually like Hy's downtown but there is so much construction going on around there it isn't much to look at these days :) It's Adelaide and Bay. Everywhere else I always do medium to medium well depending on the place.

http://www.harboursixty.com/ at least one woman tells me it is the best she has experienced. To expensive for the value IMHO

great secret hole in the wall..... across the street from Royal York, west end. I forget the name. Feel like you are taking her to an old boys club. Check it out and see if it fits.

I love Barbarian's but imagine they're all booked up tonight.....
Ask for Aaron, the owner. Tell him you've got the pictures from the night Charlie was in town and things got a little crazy with the guys from Cirque. You'll get a table fast.

Devonsleigh was converted to a Chinese resto a long time ago; great dim sum though.

Castile is nice place but haven't been in a loooooong time.

If you like wood panelling and overstuffed banquettes, check out Bardi's on York, between Front and Wellington. Serious old school beefhouse.

For a nice female-friendly ambience, the newer renovated Kegs are quite nice. Check out on the one at the Esplenade. Otherwise Harbour Sixty (but holy markup on the wine!) is a surefire bet. I've also heard good things about 1800 Degrees on Bloor West in Etobicoke. Almost went last year but date fell ill.

The Black Angus. Bloor Street west, and Islington area.

Looks like a dump on the outside, but man do they make a mean steak.

That reminds me.. I gotta go before they tear it down..

Dammit.. why did you start this thread, I'm freaking starving now!

I've been to a ton of steakhouses in Vegas, LA, Montreal, etc.. and Harbour Sixty is basically as good as it gets in my opinion. Get the smores for dessert.

Here
This question seems to come up frequently... do a search.

And as I have said many times before, when looking for something other than the typical Chris Ruth's/Harbour 60/Hy's -- and especially if you want a seafood or lobster combination -- you can't go wrong with the House of Chan at Eglinton and Bathurst.
