Scene takes place in a chinese restaurant, so the wait staff is chinese, but what is wrong here is that the Chinese can pronounce words that begin with the letter "L" as there are "L" sounds in the chinese language.
It's the Japanese that cannot pronounce the "L" sound as there are not any "L" sounds in the Japanese language. THey use "R" sounds to replace the "L" sounds.
THe opposite is also true: The Chinese do not have any "R" sounds in their language, they use "L" sounds to replace the "R" sounds
