Just for the entertainment purposes, not planning to actually do anything...
What's the best way to knock someone unconscious without causing permanent injury to that person? Certain spot to strike on head, neck or torso? Don't say tranquilizer guns, unlike in the movies, intra-muscular injections actually take 10 minutes to work.

I think that best thing for you to do , is seek out a police officer, and explain to them what and why you wish to do this, and I'm certain they'll give you some very specific instructions you will find quite useful.

Just curious if you realized how creepy this question sounded before people started responding and pointing it out. If not, you may want to work on paying more attention to signs of creepiness, and trying to avoid them.

And just for academic purposes - it should also be pointed out that there is no such "technique" that comes without risk of harm.

pool ball in a sock. in case you can't find a pool ball you can always substitute with a door knob or bar of soap. most people have a lights out button on the tip of their chin if you feel like getting your hands dirty but i suggest you use the sock full of goodness to avoid bruising your hands.

There is no way of knocking someone out without causing damage. It is the damage that causes unconsciousness. And if you get hit in the head enough, even without getting knocked out, there is the risk of permanent brain damage.

As for the "it takes 10 minutes" bullshit, I suggest that you try surgery and counting backwards from 100. I doubt you will make it to 95, although that is IV.

One possible way is to put the person in a choke. If done correctly, a person can fall out of it pretty quick from the lack of oxygen... I would consult with a MMA trainer before hand though

I know IV works in seconds, but not practical in real situations. Chloroform is a myth, and does not work, at least not instantaneously.

assholee's chocking idea is probably the most reliable so far... but depriving brain of oxygen is pretty dangerous in itself.

What about Tasers? If one applies taser to the head, does it knock someone out? or is it just the same as any othe body part?

I'm writing a paper on the myths in action films.

So can someone try the taser idea on himself? TOFTT so to speak and report back?

If you're doing a report on such myths, why don't you use the internet. Now, before anyone jumps on me, this information is available on the internet for anyone/everyone to see. My thought is that the OP is poking the bear and trying to rile up controversy.

You're wrong. Chloroform is an effective anesthesic; it depresses the CNS. However, it can cause cardiac arrhymia (sudden sniffer's death). Ether is more commonly used.

Tasers

Tasers can be effective, but they are sending electrical impulses through the body which can stop the heart, and this has been determined in several situations in N.America.

Pua, Zardoz, I don't know, but Big Tits comes to mind as he was always having problems somewhere with someone.
