Does anyone know how long this is going to be closed for?

It was really annoying yesterday, after a 6 hour drive back from Montreal and about 15 minutes from my apartment the DVP was closed.

I had to work my way through the backstreets of Toronto in traffic which took me an extra hour. It was closed again today, but tomorrow I need it to get to work.

It has been mentioned regularly in both the Toronto Sun & Toronto Star for about 3 weeks that the DVP would be closed this weekend.

According to the City of Toronto website, the Don Valley Parkway will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday April 26, 2010.

It never ceases to amaze me that people cry all the time about construction and maintenance activity in the City of Toronto.

"It was really annoying yesterday"

HO-LEE-Fuck, sorry to annoy you. Maybe you should write the City of Toronto a letter telling them to call you up next time and ask you permission before they have the unmigated gall to close the DVP for (gasp) maintenance.

People whine and bitch when the City does work and they whine and bitch when the City doesn't do work.

Unless you want the fucking thing to fall apart, you have to let them do their work from time to time.

Time to change your tampon don't you think?

You'd be annoyed too if you just drove for 6 hours, and then when so close to home, found out you had to drive another hour through backstreet traffic. Or are you so thick that part of my post didn't register with you?

Ahhh

Pooo little annoyed Bay-bay.

I understood you and your post quite clearly. The world revolves around YOU.

Get over yourself and your sense of importance. Maintenance is required on the DVP in order to keep it operating safely and effectively. The City of Toronto does said maintenance on a regular basis (on weekends when traffic volumes are substantially lower) and posts all such closings with the media, its website, AND the FTMS system on the DVP, Gardiner and MTO 400 series highways.

Were they not going to redo the DVP or crap it altogether at some point in time?
Miller was advocating tearing down the elevated portion of the Gardiner between Spadina and the DVP and replacing it with a 12 lane "great road".

I believe a study was commissioned by the silly people down at City Hall. Unless I am mistaken the fee for said study was 25 million (wasted) dollars

It had been published repeatedly in Toronto newspapers, and on local radio stations that the DVP would be closed this weekend.
What else was the city supposed to do ?

If that's the biggest crisis you have in life, you're in good shape. Suck it up, princess. :D

Yeah, sorry, no sympathy here. Unless you were in Montréal for the weeks leading up to the ROUTINE closure, there's no excuse for you not to know about it.
It will be open 5.00 am Monday. Is that good enough for you?

Stop acting like a little bitch. You are the one that came into my thread and tried to start an argument. You are the one who obviously has nothing better to do with his time (Mr 8000 posts) I wasn't even in the city for 2 weeks so how am I to pick up a Toronto newspaper and look for highway closures and maintenance. I was merely explaining my situation, and there isnt one person in this thread who wouldn;t be a bit annoyed about having to drive through back street traffic after a 6 hour drive.

So I say again, stop acting like a little bitch.

Every guy on here has told you to suck it up and that you are in the wrong. I just started the ball rolling by stating the obvious - that you need to get over your heightened sense of your own self importance.

Pencilneck hit the nail right on the head - "princess" That about covers it.

And no, I wouldn't be annoyed. Annoyed at who? The city of Toronto for looking after its infrastructructure? You have no-one to blame buy yourself. Next time, turn the radio on in your car - every local channel was broadcasting the fact.

If a bunch of Tamils ran onto the DVP and blocked the road - I'd sympathize with you. But you bitching about the City of Toronto inconveniencing you? Well, I basically LAUGH at you.

In the laboratory.

Well, not quite every guy. The article I cited from the Toronto Sun showed there are others who thought the complete shutdown wasn't the best approach.

The road work was needed...when do you expect them to do it on a weekday? Don't people listen to the news, they were saying it for 3-4 days before the closure.

No sympathy for people who complain...but don't watch the news or read newspapers. :(

Three or 4 days ?

I read about it in The Star and The Sun for 3 or 4 weeks before the closing.
