I believe the only Japanese Single Malt available for sale is Yamazaki 12 year.
WRT Yoichi 15 year, I bought this when I was in Japan for vacation. LCBO once sold the 10 year years ago but not any more.

I like to know more on how those taste test are done as it would seem to me to be a stunt or done just because. You're not really testing likes, just similar. It would be like testing CC and Balvinnie, with the ultimate test being do you like it? Ryes, Bourbons, Scotches, Irish Whiskeys, ; similar, but different.Yes, it worth every thousands of Yen.....

There is no dispute that some Japanese Whiskey is extraordinary and comparable or better than some Scottish Whisky.Yes, it worth every thousands of Yen.....

But at that rarefied extreme, it is much like a two beautiful women, preference and beauty are indeed in the eye of the beholder.
When a threesome is not an option, choosing between twins can be difficult.
While I have an obvious preference, I would not be so ungrateful as to refuse a dram of another of these fine single malts if offered by friend. Likewise a guest in my home has never rejected a fine meal and a bevy (well there was the time a made a roast for a vegetarian lady, but that's another tale for another day).

Not looking forward to a threesome when it comes to sampling whisky. I enjoy whisky one brand at a time and only try another one once I finish the bottle.
I may consider Lagavulin 16 year once I finish Yoichi 15 year on hand. Still there is no rush as I tried Bowmore 12 year in the past.
Not necessarily comparing apple to apple but I prefer Bowmore Japanese cousin, Yamazaki 12 year.

My fave! I like it neat as well, it's too tasty to mix. Great drink, reasonable price, but Reserve is where it's at with Appleton Estate rum.
