Been following the fellow that got denied going to the the US. They seem to be tightening security again in wake of the attempted plane bombing.

I went to the Seneca casino in Niagara falls NY. I took one of those buses that make daily trips to the casinos. We arrived at the Rainbow bridge border and usually a customs officer comes on board and checks every bodies passport or collects them and scans them in the office. We were all ordered to get off the bus and stand in line as they scan and verify all passports. 3 agents working, 1 agent, all he asked was are you Canadian and off you go. The 2nd one was asking how much money are you bringing. And the third was an ass. I'm in my late 20's and asked more then others lol.

Are you Canadian? yes
where you going? for how long?
what do you do for a living? currently unemployed
how much money do you have on you? about 100 bucks
you have 100 bucks on you and your unemployed? yes that's right
how is that possible? I save my money lol
Have you been arrested? nope,
Are you sure? yes
Are you really sure? yes
Even for the slightest thing? yes, never been arrested
Are you 100 percent sure? yes

ok off you go. When we get back to enter Canada, no questions asked, show them the passport and off we go.

way out in left field
I'm surprised they let you in when you admitted that you were unemployed. People coming in and taking jobs is a major concern of theirs........

Part of their job is to test how people react to stress. So they'll induce a bit of stress into the interview and gauge your response. As has been mentioned before, it isn't their job to make you comfortable: it's their job to keep everyone safe.

It's quite obvious by several posts on TERB that many of you guys can't handle stress and can't see the big picture.

First thing since you are a Canadian National they have to admit you, they can detain you and have the RCMP come and arrest you, but they have to admit you. Unless you are also a U.S. National they do not have to admit you.

Second, if God forbid some crazy flies a large passenger aircraft into the CN tower, the Chateau Frontenac, or the Houses of Parliament or blows up a commercial aircraft about to land at Pearson, then see what entering Canada looks like.

They will usually ask you a series of questions, listen to your answers and ask you the same questions again, in a different way and maybe in a different sequence to see if your story changes. Also, don't look away when you answer and provide short, direct answers.

God, I miss the good old days. Back in the 80's me and the ex use to go to Vegas/Reno on all expense paid Junket paid by the Casinos during the winter months. We probably went about 20 times, leaving from Edmoton landing in Calgary. Most times we cleared Customs in Edmonton. On one flight we boarded without going to customs and flew direct to Reno and cleared Customs there. They waved us through, it was like going to Mexico. Absolutely, no one was stopped for id.

One time on my way back from one of these trips, it was always Canadian Airways, the Captain walked through the Cabin to say hello as they use to do. This one looked like John Candy, a big guy laughing with the passengers. We were going through some really bad weather. My ex, a nervous flyer at the best of times had her hand on my leg, after lot of wine and her hand on my pant leg was soaked from her nervousess. You could see all kinds of lightening from the window. Anyway, we had a real hard landing, and the Captain, yelled, YaHoo over the microphone during the landing, reminscent of Slim Pickens of How I loved the Bomb. Everybody roared.

Also, I was on a trip to Mexico on Canadian's new Boeing 767 and we were invited into the cockpit to see the latest in airplane technolgy.

It saddens me that a few assholes have ruined the world and the way we live it.

Yes, I remember very well passengers being allowed into the cockpit to say hello to the pilot and check out the view. I went into the cockpit of an Air Canada 747-200 flying to Toronto from London Heathrow when we were at 34,000 ft over the mouth of the St. Lawrence river on a clear morning and it was an amazing sight. It is sad that people now can't enjoy these moments anymore with the locked cockpit doors and no visitors policy. I'm glad I'm as old as I am and got to enjoy this before the world got so screwed up as regards aviation.
