Firstly what you are describing is reverse cowgirl which I also really like. Cowgirl and all its variations, (e.g. reverse, oriental etc...) is definitely one of my favs! Doggie is also very nice, but I don't "last" too long this way! I think ATF has to be "lotus" though! :-D

That is actually a very good suggestion. Putting a cushion under is actually better for the female as well as the male. I find it feels better without, but if it will help you, then give it a try.
My fave is doggie, feels the best, and I can turn myself easy enough to face my partner during.
