so im a relatively young guy. 25yo to be exact and ran into some luck at my work place and have started making more money. so on my new payrate i was excited to see how much i was making on a 2 week paycheck..then i look at the details and noticed the damn government taxed almost $1700 off my paycheck.

it was the first time i've seen anything like this and i though i'd share...like really wtf...$1700...r u fucking kidding me? i honestly never really knew that taxes were that bad. i guess most of the time it just goes un noticed until u really look into the details.

can anyone share their point of view about a variable tax bracket compared to the fixed one? like really. why cant they just go...say 35% across the board for everyone......

Welcome to adulthood soulsphere... don't worry... you get used to it after awhile. Just take solace in the fact that all your money is lining the pockets of politicians (and their buddies of course) across the country.

Think of it this way...either pay for it now and it's not so noticable, or pay for it at the end of the year, when it could be a big bite.....offset it with an RRSP

This is why you should be concerned about who you vote for.

Wait til you own a home or a business and have to pay David Miller's taxes.

Becuase a tax rate of 35% on someone earning $30,000 a year is a lot harsher than a tax rate of 35% on someone earning $130,000 a year.

And of course paying for education, and healthcare, and defence, and roads, and fire departments, and a bunch of other wastes of money that you don't need.

It doesn't work that way.

Taxes are bracketed.

You pay in increments as your income increases.

If thats just tax alone, and not your CPP+EI, you're making quite a lot of money my friend.

OH COME ON!

It makes NO DIFFERENCE who you vote for because they ALL have the same agenda... Which is: Tax and spend... OK, so maybe "WHAT" they spend the money on differs, but only slightly...

I have NO PROBLEM paying for any of those things in moderation... it is the CONSTANT WASTE that perturbs me more than anything... and just think for a second that all those government contracts that are supplying most of those things, are directly controlled by the politicians buddies in one way or another.

And don't get me started on their insane pension plans...

I'm surprised that the usual folks haven't turned up to lambaste Soulsphere for wanting to keep his money and tell him how he should gladly give his entire income to the state.

Yeah, that hurts. But it can/will get worse....

1. The first time you realize that your income taxes are more than what the average family earns in Toronto/Canada

2. The first time you realize that your income taxes hit six figures.

3. The first time you realize that your income taxes could have paid for your dream car.

etc. etc.
wow its nice u mentioned this. it really would suck when u basically lose six figures to taxes...i cringe thinking about it.

Best way to deal with it is to keep a decent job that you pay your government protection money on reliably & on time......

The Find some other income that you can avoid reporting... Small cash business, etc.... Keep no records & never use your real name or do business in your home area if it can be avoided.....

Take that $$ (after a short time it will grow quick because it's ALL yours) & use some of it to max out your RRSPs & invest in things like small business loans to people that need it. Give to charities you believe in, help people you think deserve help...

It is amazing the amount of freedom & well being derived from being able to decide for yourself what money should be spent on... Even if you give all of it to things You believe in it will feel good because it's CHOICE not extortion....

All you have to do is get over the foolish notion that you "owe" anything.... It's amazing how large "your fair share" would actually be if it were voluntary & not stolen from you.

Anyone who pays a single penny more to the government that they couldn't get away with hiding is a sucker who is basically pissing their labour & the portion of their life spent earning it down the shiitter......

LOL reminds me of this intern we had at work who was there part time. Fancied himself as an activist who voted NDP. Few years later after he finished up school, I hired him full time and he got his first paycheck and was like "WTF"? Next election I find out he voted Conservative because he felt "it was wrong" to take all the money from him.

It's no surprise the most youth slant left politically.
