 If it sounds to good to be true.....you know the rest.

I am shamelessly using an alias as I am too embarrassed to post under my real name... Go ahead and bash me if you want the mods can expose me but I hope they won't.

In any case a public service announcement...

2 guys selling audio equipment from the back of an SUV --- DONT DO IT... How fricken stupid could I be...

Burned for 220.00 dollars for crappy shit !!!! Should have known better - in fact years ago I was scammed with a white-van audio sale... DAMN !!!!

But they preyed on my greed... thought it was a REALLY good deal...

Its a well known scam....

They show you a shoddy audio mag with an MRSP of like 1,200 dollars .... WTF....

[link deleted by mod] home theatre system

It doesnt take long looking on the web before you see its a real scam...

I called Crimestoppers.... I had the forsight to record their license plate.

If they approach you maybe you can be creative and get them back for me somehow, some way.... dont do anything dangerous it aint worth it but these bastards are pure criminals...

Live and Learn... (heavy sigh)

Clue #1: The "ABOUT US" comes up as web page can not be found

Clue #2: The "CONTACT US" comes up the same.

Clue #3: Only the best products are sold out of vans not SUVs.....

Sorry, no sympathy for you. You're too greedy for your own good.

How does the saying go? Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me?

'Tis the season - incessant talk of gifts, stress from "having" to get stuff, family "problems", etc. And now this...

You should watch the old, priceless movie "The Flim Flam man",
where george C Scott says the universal truth: "You cannot cheat an honest man"

There was a W.C. Fields story and movie called "You Can't Cheat an Honest Man."

I got asked in a Canadian Tire parking lot about 10yrs ago or so. A van or cube van/truck with 2 young guys in it. Said they had stereos/speakers for sale. Extras from an order they had delivered that day to a store-maybe even C. Tire, I forget.

They said they would be in town for part of the night and wanted to get some lap dances and fun at our local strip club. They wanted hundreds of dollars, I wouldn't go higher than 50 or 100.
They showed me the "invoice" or whatever, stating that those goods were not meant to be delivered or a mistake was made. Those goods would be "lost" and bought by someone-me. It looked real, but I don't work for a retail store and such, so I don't know.

I didn't go for it. Low on cash first off and wary of 2 guys with a van, breaking the rules or laws. They showed me the goods. Still in the box if I remember right.
They were pissed that I couldn't do it. I wonder if their story was real or not?

The Van sellers have been around for years. Always a rental van. Always systems that sound "similar" to higher end stuff. Always crap.
Spend the extra penies, get the real stuff. Your ears will thank you, or bleed. Whatever.
Spent time and money researching and building my system, never even went near a van. Now just need stone deaf neighbours. :D

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
I've posted this list before, but here it is again....heads up for this crap.

"White Van" Speaker Scam product lines:

This is a list of the more common names of these garbage "brands". These apply to speakers and electronics. Many have similar - or like names to real, well known brands. Please print this out - and / forward it to your friends. The scammers keep flagging it so they can rip you off!

The websites / laminated sheets and "magazine" write ups are ALL FAKE.

There is NO WARRANTY and these units are NOT CSA or C UL approved.

They have been linked to at least one house fire.

Some of these rip off artists will tell you these brands are "off brands" of major manufacturers such as BOSE.

NOT TRUE AT ALL. There is no connection to these units and any of the major manufacturers at all. They are all low end Chinese speakers - poorly assembled - no baffling / bracing. Often there is either NO CROSSOVER or a small under rated capacitor inline acting as a "crossover".

And by the way "DIGITAL READY SPEAKERS"?

Speakers reproduce ANALOGUE signals from digital SOURCES.
Sad really when the rip-off artists are TOO STUPID to be able to correct such a glaring error.

Watch carefully for the similarities in some of the names!

This kind of bullshit has been going on for years as pointed out.

I've been approached in Sherway parking lot and once (this is the topper) driving down the 401 around Dixon Road. This white van pulls up beside me (I was in a convertable) and the driver is leaning out the window holding a pamphlet and a piece of paper and shouting at me. I couldn't freaking believe it. At first I thought, "what the fuck does he want". Then I realized that he was trying to sell me speakers. (Doing 90 k driving eastbound on the 401!)

You could have a little fun with them. Try negotiating them down, starting at 2 dollars, digging in your heals around 5 dollars. See how frustrated you could make them.

it happened to me. i had no interest from the beginning, but they're pushy. he showed me the price in the magazine was $3500, and he was selling them for $1000. he showed me a huge wad of cash and told me they were going to the titty bar. anyways i wanted to see how low i could get the price. after a bit of work he told me wouldn't go any lower than $200. so i got him down to $100, then i laughed and walked away.
