I love the VR fail videos. my favorite is the guy doing the in store demo, rock climbing, doing a face plant.Funniest VR fails and scares.

good deal. welcome to the future. I remember watching Star Trek Next Generation and dreaming of the day we would have holo decks. we're not that far off nowFinally found a used HTC Vive on clearance on amazon (saved $400) and grab it. VR is fun, the VR porn is great. However, I can still see the screen door effect. The future of VR looks promising.
Save your $. Assuming it's first gen, if it is, SAVE IT.Sony VR on sale for $100 price reduction this month in Canada. Pondering whether this is a good intro into VR as I don't have a PC strong enough to run HTC.
Disagree with this...the Microsoft mixed reality headsets are really good and cheap and have access to the Microsoft store, the steam VR and oculus stores. They also have a thumb stick which is great for locomotion. I got one in January of this year after I decided to give up on the piemax and the new HTc Vice Pro. To this day I don’t regret this decision and they are pretty much plug and play with minimum set up and really good for immersion. I waited 2 years to make this decision. If you have a capable computer do it and pull the trigger otherwise you will be waiting for a while to enjoy VR because we don’t have capable computers that can resolve higher resolution at decent price.Save your $. Does this mean that the screen door effect is fixed? I didn't have 28 minutes to watch the whole video.Tomorrow Jan 8th HTC Vive will be announcing an update in resolution. I don’t believe people know yet if it’s a brand new system or just an upgrade to the existing.
I think with Piemax 8k being introduced into the market and having a significant backing these guys at HTC are seeing a shift in the market and a loss of potential profits. I still remain skeptical that it will improve on the FOV similar to the Piemax and still am favouring the piemax. However the problem with Piemax is production delays and I don’t think they are ready just yet to ship.
Regardless of what happens right now IMO is the best time to invest in a gen 2 VR device which right now appears to be the new HTC Vive or Piemax 8k. I will definitely get one of these in the 1st quarter, however not decided yet.
Nope, still there but slightly reduced and now they charge $800USD for the pro without accessories. The Samsung Odyssey is the best deal ATM for value, performance and functionality.Does this mean that the screen door effect is fixed? I didn't have 28 minutes to watch the whole video.
What qualifies as a capable computer? I have a i7 4790k liquid cooled at 5GHz with 16GB of RAM - not the bleeding edge it once was but no slouch either. Vid card is dated and I'm going to assume this is going to matter a lot here... do you need two cards? as in one for each eye?If you have a capable computer do it and pull the trigger otherwise you will be waiting for a while to enjoy VR because we don’t have capable computers that can resolve higher resolution at decent price.
Your processor is good. You only need 1 graphics card. I recommend an Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card but the GTX 970, 980 and the GTX 1070 will work. Get any of those and your set.Oh good, new tech that I now have to look into now because I don't have it.

I picked up an Oculus in 2016 and a Samsung Odyssey Oct. 2017. The Odyssey is quite a bit better than the Oculus. the resolution upgrade is noticeable and the fact it literally only takes a few minutes to be up and running with Windows Mixed Reality headsets. no base station set up and placement necessary. inside out tracking works well. Works on 99% of steam games and also works well with Oculus games in your library. Here is another latest video comparing the best VR headsets out ATM which is the HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro and Samsung Odyssey.
In summary Samsung Odyssey is still the best value having the same resolution at the HTC Vivie Pro at the cheapest price. I had this unit since beginning of this year and still love it.
Forget about the Piemax 8k, those guys are out to lunch and have not applied any meaningful R&D. Apparently this FOV and resolution causes issues and creates headaches and other issues to the users. This is why other companies dropped this large FOV/resolution.
