Wow!

I have to admit that the gadget freak in me has got a boner, looking at this phone. I think this may be my next phone.

It’s an awesome phone in it’s own right. The deal clincher for me is the netbook dock.

$150 is probably the right price. I wouldn’t pay more considering that it is just an LCD screen and a keyboard. It has no CPU or storage onboard.

I see it as an Android powered netbook for $150 bucks more. The cell phone dock is more elegant a solution than tethering or using one of those broadband USB sticks to get Internet anywhere.

I would be inclined to try to get some productive work done on the netbook. Pardon my ignorance with Android but is there a good Office compatible app like OpenOffice available on Android?

A couple of good options are the Google Docs and Microsoft Office Live, both are cloud based services

Thanx, Mag,

I hadn’t thought about a cloud solution. Is there a good office compatible app like Open Office that I can download and run resident? That might run a little snappier than over the wireless Internet and cut down on data usage.

What is the resolution of the netbook? Hopefully 1366 x 768 and not 1024x600
Tried to dig around but this is the best I could find.

Motorola really upping the game with this one, this could be a real game changer for me. May get one myself eventually down the line once I learn more about the whole system.
The netbook runs with a Linux distribution, very slick, liking this a lot.
"The 2.4 pound netbook shell has an 11.6-inch screen and a three-cell battery. It has no internal storage at all, because it boots its Linux-based "webtop" operating system entirely from the Atrix smartphone. The netbook shell has a docking area in the rear with an HDMI plug and a micro-USB plug that slide into the ports on the phone when it is placed in the dock. The phone can charge itself from the netbook shell's battery."

edit - found it.

1200x800 resolution.

lol agreed.
I had the same phone for over 3 years and just got a new smart device a few weeks ago.
But this thing is very appealing, even more so with the netbook dock, what a game changer and innovative.

Motorola really picking up the slack in the cell phone market, I'm actually looking forward to this.
I probably won't NEEEEED it, but I sure would like having it. lol
The fact that the netbook runs on Linux (which is fast and sleek) makes it more appealing.

Yep, exactly. Motorola seems to have thought outside the box with this one, brilliant.

I read or heard somewhere that dual core processors will actually use less battery than a single. also with the Atrix the netbook/dock charges your phone from the very large battery installed in it, so while you are busy doing content creation or consumption on the netbook you leave with a fresh charge
and oh yea a nice feature is the ability to buy a spare battery and swap them out :p i'm surprised Apple never thought of that haha

LMAO!

Apple would rather sell their well trained fanobois and brand spanking new bright & shiny overpriced iToy instead!.....

Nickle and diming their own, even with all the great profits they're making if you study the pies and charts that OTB has posted.

I expect it will be typical for a smart phone which means not great. There is a price to pay for having a big, bright screen and lots of horsepower, and that is that the device will be a power hog.

Fortunately, the Atrix has a pretty hefty battery, something like 1900 mAH. It should last for at least a full day of normal use. Also, I’m glad that it can charge in the dock. That will be useful.

Speaking of the iphone, it’s a cool phone and very innovative but it bothers me that Apple decided to hard wire the battery and the memory into the phone itself. They can’t be changed.

they even went beyond hard wiring recently, now they use proprietary screws to prevent DIY and unauthorized repairs/mods

they just don't trust anyone lol
but please remember Apple love you :D

Lol. I knew about the screws but the battery actuallly being hard wired???
Really wanna clamp down on people doing repairs for next to nothing and would much rather have people come to the bar and pay a premium for repairs and parts. Lol
Talk about complete control over their own products. People may as well read the fine print of any product they purchase because for all they know they may actually be renting the damn thing. Lol
