What about the options:

  • * under $25,000
    * over $500,000
I recall "hobbying" during my university years. btw, what was it called preTERB? And maybe sheik, tbill, others fall into the latter category?

What do I put down if....

....I make over 100K but I put most of it right back into the economy (aka spend it on hobbying)?

I think I'm paying off a few mortgages...but not my own.

Alternative Poll

How about a poll on how much is spent on the hobby each month?

Squirt...

Sorry, don't mean to be picky here, but you may want to revise the poll so that someone's salary does not fall into two different categories.

I.e. If my income is $50,000 do I select the $25,000 to $50,000 category or the $50,000 to $75,000 category???

The options should be mutually exclusive, with the second bracket starting at $51,000

Not likely... Once the ladies see that we're all rolling in it, another rate increase will be on the way! LOL

I guess it all depends on how you define "valid"....

Funny thing about polls - when a lot of people are asked this question - the most common response is:

income > 100K
Education > post graduate
DOB: January 1, 1900
No. of children: 2.5
No. of cars: 1.5

Really? Are there that many 103 year olds running around (with walkers, I assume)?

In the year I have been a member here, this is about the zillionth poll re: how much do you make, spend, escorts & taxes, how much the make, how to make more money for sex, etc. etc.

Sheik had it right. If you can't afford it you should't be doing it.

I interpret this to mean if you notice it sooooo much you have to brag about how much you make, worry about what the escort makes, worry about how much you spent, etc, than you shouldn't be doing this.

This activity brinks on the edge of sellng into addictive behavior, ie drugs, drinking, smoking, gambling, etc. so you have to be careful. If your debts are paid, saving to retirement, have met your goals, do this with the extra money, Enjoy it and don't wory about it.

But if you want to let it control you, don't worry, these ladies will hire you at minimum wage to wash their $75,000 cars, so you will have a means to support yourself during retirement.

I agree that this hobby can be pretty destructive, in fact I can imagine some hobbyist spending his kids' college tuition on SPs and such. But to be fair, I believe that, like me, most of the hobbyists here aren't making annual incomes in the high six-figures ranges and while their hobbying expenditure isn't going to make them miss their next mortgage payment or screw up their retirement plans, the money spent isn't pocket change either. I'm probably going to spend US$7-8,000 on the hobby (inclusive of hotels, travel expenses, etc) this year and for me, that probably means no 50 inch plasma screen for my home theatre system and I'm perfectly happy with this tradeoff (although it would be pretty nice to watch LOTR on that screen). So the polls while sometimes appearing inane and obsessive, do in some ways help me put things in perspective.

wow! isn't it funny how almost every post turns into a flame of one sort or another. i just thought it might be interesting to see the diversity amongst us. as i mentioned it was inspired by a post by pool. too bad i don't remember which thread. it was strictly spur of the moment.
