Being a bit of an old fogey and a luddite, for tv shows that I know exist and watch regularly, I use an old fashioned method based on an old but still existing internet area called the "usenet"
It has been around for at least 30 years, and consists of various "newsgroups" pertaining to all sorts of different interests. Some are forums, like terb, on many different subjects. Others are binary mulitimedia groups.
The primary newsgroup I subscribe to is called "alt.binaries.teevee". It is a multimedia group and many current tv episodes are posted on a daily basis, usually within hours of being aired by the networks, and cable channels such as HBO, etc.
Once I download them, using a "newsreader program" (the one I use is called "Agent"), I decompress them to video files, which I then either burn to a dvd or just copy to a usb key for viewing on my large screen tv. (I don't like watching tv shows on a 15" computer screen.)
Old fashioned and labour intensive I know, but quite reliable and virus-free.
I rely on torrents to download theatrical movies and tv shows of which I was not previously aware, or cannot be found on the usenet, especially if I want to download earlier than current episodes.
For what its worth....
