I'm very confident that the business of MPs will continue to serve its constituents in years to come in spite of C36. Just look at Sweden, the birth place of the Nordic law. Since the introduction of this law (2008?), the number of Thai Massage houses in Stockholm increased by almost three times.
But in the short term, clients in the GTA will feel fearful and uncertain leading to deprivation of their favorite hobby and subsequent decrease in traffic to MPs. This fear perhaps arises mostly from a general sense of helplessness when and if they get accosted by LE. They would not know what's their rights, what to say and how to conduct themselves. But if they are covered by a legal defense insurance policy, such as what is available to tax-payers on audit defense, they will have instant legal representation. But even before that, they would have received instructions that accompany the policy on what to say and how to act. I for one would welcome and sign up without hesitation such a legal defense insurance if one becomes available.
What do you guys think. Does this idea have any merit?
