As I understand it, having worked there, George can't hold the Adult Entertainment license because of some past legal issues. So he needs to find someone to come in and rent the place and operate it. But then he screws the tenants, jacks up the rent on renewal, generally makes himself a pain in the ass. I know that has happened with the last two people who rented from him. The last chap was ready to pack it in when COVID hit. So my guess he is waiting for another sucker to step up.

I got some info last night that is from what I think is someone who would be "in the know" that the club will reopen within the next few weeks. Not sure who is managing it. I was told that they are renovating the interior again and moving the Champagne rooms back to where they used to be in what had been intended to be a VIP area. Supposedly more out in the open. Not sure how well that will fly, the last champagne rooms were quite popular and relatively secluded.
A better investment in that place is fixing the septic and washrooms, better furniture and fixing the HVAC and ventilation. But that is just my 2 cents.

Yeah..... it will reopen I have been told. Be interesting to see who is running it and if George is still going to take an interest.
I went by yesterday and didn't see that sign. I know they have put up a new sign for the motel and the Thai restaurant upstairs.

The rumour I heard from someone who was a regular dancer was that they had done some renovations and moved the Champagne rooms back to where they were. They were expecting it to open by now. But you are right on George. He is the biggest impediment to making the place successful.
Heard once again from one of the regular girls who worked there that it is going to re-open soon and that for the first month the problem will be no liquor license. Take it for what it is worth.

And another update, I just drove by on my way from a meeting. The Casino Cabaret sign is gone but it was there last week. So either it is dead or we are going to get another sign up soon. If we see Vegas Cabaret sign appear then we have our answer.
I sincerely doubt that that piece of land will be sold for housing. It is boxed in on the north and south by active quarries. Look at it from the aerial photos on Google Maps. The remediation of the land would be cost prohibitive and the "mineral rights" provision for things like quarries trump any kind of rezoning while still active.
True they are building down Bank street as far as Blais and maybe a bit further, but they won't come down as far as that club. And everything else around it on Rideau Road going east is heavy industrial.
