This is where you have it wrong! No one is objecting to anything. What is being objected to is a conclusion being reached by the righties without evidence proving otherwise. Most will say, anything is possible but it must be "proven" not just thrown at the wall and hope it sticks. If that was the case, you might as well drink a cup of Clorox if you believe you've contracted COVID.
Considering how much he lied about everything, pushed snake oil cures, and basically failed to take decisive action when the virus came, anything the Orange One says should be taken with a heaping load of scepticism. To be honest, anything a politician says should have some level of scepticism, but if Biden said it, I'd be much more ready to believe it. Heck, if Bush said it, I'd believe it more.

You are in doing this giving the Chinese Govt a pass on arguably being the cause. They have even alluded to the USA being the source of the Pandemic.
Trump is independent of this. The virus started in Wuhan. That is a fact now. The Chinese Govt is blocking the investigation to the cause.

I am objective. I am not giving the Chinese government a pass on anything. I trust them even less than I trust Trump. They are a horrible government who brutally crush dissent. I think they are involved in a cover-up, but I am not convinced it is because covid came from that lab. There are all sorts of shady shit they do that could be the reason. I mean, they traffic in endangered species, they illegally fish in other countries waters, lord knows what else they do.
But, as for Trump, his lies poisoned his credibility long before covid. It wouldn't shock me that he said shit like this to obfuscate his administration's appalling handling of the virus. If you get the average American angry at China for this, you deflect criticism for this massive failure.
