WTF is Pokemon?

Its like Terb Go...where u go around the city trying to catch beautiful women, except ur catching tiny little goofy creatures...
For people born in the 90s it was a cartoon and video game where you start off with a monster you can control and you go around catching more of them to fight other trainers and monsters. These monsters can evolve to more powerful types once they defeat enough monsters. It was pretty successful, was for the gameboys, they kept on coming out with more and more pokemon and new games are still being released annually on the DS. So basically Pokemon Go is just this game but played with your phones gps.
can you believe some kids are walking around the city of toronto at 3am playing this game, trying to find pokemon by the phone's gps?
There used to be a similar game called Ingress released years ago where you get in game items when you visit a user deemed monument like an art piece in a park, or a mural on the back of a building or a sign post...anything. So Niantic took these and made them into today's pokestops. The maps of the game are from Google and you can download the map of toronto onto the google account you signed up with to play Pokemon Go. If you dont download them the games gps will on the go. The game then just uses your phones compass/gps along with google maps+ingress monuments to generate the world of Pokemon Go and you play it with the touchscreen.
so you go around Toronto finding fictional monsters and destroying them making your fictional pokemon character stronger?
some guy told me alot of chicks play this game and u can run into them at the park searching for pokemon on pokemon go.

Think of it as the world's biggest scavenger hunt. Except it's for virtual instead of real items. Beyond that unless you are into it the rules will be too complicated to explain.
But the scavenger aspect is essentially the motivation.
As I said in an earlier thread, we saw two hotties play in front of our office. I came out and asked if they were catching Pokemon. They said yes with a giggle. So it can be a way to meet hotties.
Its not exactly like the console version. Its different in that you just catch the pokemon and the only part where you battle is when you fight a gym which are spots that are contestable by the 3 teams yellow, blue and red. To take over the gym you must defeat the current gym leader. Whenever you catch a pokemon you get stardust and candies which can be used to evolve or make your pokemons stronger. It sounds ridiculous but for millenials its great since this reminds us of our childhood and distracts us from bad job prospects and student debt.
I have only seen one hot chick and she was with her boyfriend...I don't play much though. The game always freezes when catching pokemon. Very buggy.
wouldnt mind walking around with a girl while she chases searches for pokemon. catch some ice cream truck and coffee and make out with her meanwhile....unless her search for pokemon goes for too long...
It melts their brain cells and drains away anything they learned at university, but the debt remains.
