Throw more more money away and make China pay for it.

do I agree with the decisions that are being made which will lead to tax increases. Absolutely.

Am I happy that I will need to pay extra taxes. No, I wished covid had not happened. But is is what it is.

What cuts were made by our governments in the "dead time" during the lockdown? We were "in this together", so what sacrifices did the government workers made? What reductions of, say, foreign aid are being contemplated to help the taxpayers with the upcoming increases? Btw, how will increasing taxation help our economy recover?

For each dollar I pay in higher taxes, that is one less dollar that I will have to spend seeing my favorite SP’s. So no, I will not be happy paying more taxes.

We have a federal government that was the first in history to increase debt in good times (years prior to COVID), which was completely irresponsible. Had they managed our funds appropriately, we would have had those monies for emergencies such as COVID.

No. I already pay too much tax.

The liberal government will not use any tax increase to pay the debt, they will just use any increase in revenue to continue to fund all the useless social programs they have introduced and give aways to special interest groups that are black holes when it comes to money. (Example "truth and reconciliation" which is just the code word for throwing away ka-billions of dollars every year with absolutely no checks and balances and worse, no transparency with respect to exactly how much money is being wasted.)

When I think of how well this country was run under Paul Martin and compare it to the circus since him (and yes, I include Harper in there, but Trudeau takes the cake) I weep with what has happened to Canada.

You make a good point.

Keynesian economics. Increased taxes hurt economic growth. I believe this to be true.

Canada needs to grow its economy, become more productive and more competitive. But good luck with convincing unions of that.

No one is "happy" to pay taxes. Was anyone happy to pay taxes to fight WWII? It was an emergency and yeah it will have to be paid for. I hope they will put in an inheritance tax on large estates > 5m and maybe 1% to the GST, there is no real hurry to pay this down. What is more important is to get consumer spending up and confidence up.

I'm betting on a 2% HST increase in the fall budget. These Deficit numbers were to soften the public up.

And honestly if another lockdown occurs worldwide I still think a debt reset by world govts may be coming. It's all just made up numbers under the central banking system anyway.

For those who still can we need to do our part to give back to our society and community, like buying from local business and supporting people that need it. Right now we have a tsunami of a problem on the way which is the mass evictions coming with over 1,000 people if not more who won’t be able to pay rent. Just imagine the fallout of that one. It’s one of the initial pieces to the dominos that are potentialized to topple and just need a little push.
