Will the exchange rate kill the escort business?

With the US exchange rate dropping like a rock...was wondering how busy the girls have been in Toronto lately? Im reading the Montreal board and it looks like even the high priced agency's are offering discounts so the girls get some work.
And Toronto agency's are at least 80 dollars higher...

I used to pay around 80 usd for an hour in Montreal...now its double. And airfare has doubled as well (although if your flying from a Canadian city its still dirt cheap). My hotels have doubled...priceline is hardly an option anymore. Basically half my hobby budget is now used for travel, hotel etc. Has anyone else ran across this problem?

Lately Ive been flying to Germany and doing the fkk clubs. Airfare for my last trip was CHEAPER than flying to Montreal. Hotels are half the cost. Hell, last trip it was so nice outside that when I left the clubs at 4am and just crashing in the car until they reopened at 10am, saving myself more money. A half hour rate is 50 euro's...around 65 us. Some clubs even had 20 minute rates for 25~35euro's.

So at least for me, hobbying in Toronto is no longer an option...and Montreal just got a question mark. Anyone else in the same boat?

the market demand may have softened a bit and prices have dropped considerably at the low end. i am really not sure what continues to support the prices at the high end. but that has always been a mystery to me anyways. prices may fall further. conversly i imagine prices are on the rise out in western canada.

cool note on germany bm. i was thinking of a japan trip in the fall for a little change of pace. your germany idea has me thinking about other options now. thx

You pay a cover at each fkk...but they feed you, some will give you unlimited free beer, use of the facilities and the larger clubs have 60 or more girls per day. So for the guys who have to fly into Canada to hobby, rent their own hotel room etc...the option of going to Germany is actually cheaper and lets you test drive two to three times as many girls. They even have partytreff clubs (not fkk's) where you pay 100 euro's entry and can have all the sex you want with the 9 or so girls available (they are usually in the 4 to 7 range).

Funny you mentioned border hassles...always got the twenty questions going into Canada...the opposite is true entering Germany. Not one question...just a quick stamp and your on your way.

Here
Other than to visit friends and reimbursed business expenses, the days of coming to Toronto strictly for recreation are over. When I started 5+ years ago the exchange rate was something like $1.50 CDN to the dollar. Now with the two currencies almost on par, its not worth it.

The malls in Buffalo are loving it, but any Canadian businesses that previously enjoyed significant sales from Americans are going to suffer.

With the Canadian dollar going up I see that it effecting the tourism and the convention business. This will in turn will effect the escort businss. It seems unlikely to "kill" the escort business.

what's wrong with Canadians?

Canada's economy is poor when the dollar is high, poor when the dollar is low, poor when interest rates are high, poor when low...

get a grip. the Dollar is high largely because Canada is viewed internationally as a favoured place to invest in. period.

Another Sars type incident would be a bigger problem. (Can you believe there wasn't 1 report case in the U.S. ;))

I've been to Vegas and seen the chicks there.

They tend to be overweight, not that good looking, not in the least bit refined and everything is a la carte. What you can enjoy here for 250 or 300 an hour is about 5 or 6 hundred an hour in vegas with a far less talented woman.

If you want a beautiful woman, and want what you expect up here as a norm, get ready to drop a G note.

Simply put, exchange rate or not, the calibre of the Canadian women is simply far superior to Americans in general. I dunno if it's something in the water, or just a European influence, but women here tend to be by and large far healthier, slimmer, and better looking. Definitely slimmer.

When I was working in Michigan, I never saw so many 300 pound women in one place at one time. If you are chubby chaser, the US is the place to go.

But you know a city should offer more than just dollar value. I mean people still go to Rome, Paris, London even though they are terribly expensive. Why? Cause they are interesting places to visit. Toronto is frikin boring as hell. It's all about shopping, substance with no soul...And $7 for a pint with tip!

It certainly won't help it. Plus I no longer get my GST refunded both on hotel and merchandise which makes it much less desireable to shop there.
As the expression goes “it’s not rocket science.”

From an over fifty percent premium to almost at par is a very significant difference in the exchange rate, particularly so when the U.S. dollar has held its value better against a number of other currencies. This together with the higher rates in Toronto than in Montreal are certainly going to adversely affect hobbiest travel to Toronto.

Combining this with steadily higher airfares and gasoline prices over the past five years and the increasing inconvenience (although it's necessary) of crossing the border and I think "the trade" is going to have a slowdown and perhaps a subsequent decrease in rates.

a high Cdn$ means that we as Canadians have increased our net worth by 48% since 2002 on the global market.

and no, the Cdn$ hasn't actually dropped against the Euro, like someone said... the Cdn$ was worth 60% of one Euro in February 2005... it is now worth over 70%.

think its difficult to say what the current rate or higher will mean to 3 months or 6 months down the road. everything has a greater impact once its in place versus just having happened. thats always more evident three months to six months out. as i said in a previous post a par doller will bury manufacturing in ontario. that will mean more unemployment which means more competition at the low end (thats where they all start their adult career at the low end) and also less spend flowing through the system. that will translate into more reduced rates at the low end (if it actually can go any lower!). will the high end be affected. yes. i think so. there is much less need for a cdn office etc. if the dollar is par as there is less in actual cost savings re c$ discount if you manage your cdn business in canada. also that means less travel by us execs etc. if i were an escort and i had mobility on my side i would be moving to calgary/edmonton asap. theres more money in calgary then i have ever seen before.

has rediculously high priced sparkling wines from a seedy region of France hurt their worldly sales? nope.

The German fkk's have a huge mix...but I wouldnt say any have an influx of asians. You might see 2 or 3 in a large club but that would be about it. Remember, Amsterdam has a small area where the girls work...so their numbers will look bigger. The fkk scene is HUGE. The number of clubs is just incredible.

Hi,

I think the whole tone of this post is that the Canadian Dollar is "Going Up". It's not Canada that is dropping it is the USA. The last time the Canadian and US dollars were at par was in the early 1970's when the USA was losing in 'Nam.

Now the USA is getting creamed in the Middle East and has lost control of its national boarders. I would guess the USA dollar has a lot farther to fall. I expect it to peak at $2.00 US dollars for one Canadinan Dollar. The only thing that Could save the USA now is a crushing military defeat of the Insurgents in Iraq and the Taliban in Afghanistan and Iran. 'Aint gonna happen unless the USA goes massively nuclear.

SO look out below, the USA currency is gone.
