Very sad how no one is acclaimed enough or celebrated until they die.
I nominate Cilint Eastwood as a treasure.
Some of my fav’s in an acting role,

Gran Torino
Firefox
Kelly’s War
Million Dollar Baby
Space Cowboys
Unforgiven
Heartbreak Ridge
Pale Rider
High Plains Drifter
Dirty Harry

Amongst many more acting and directing productions :(

His legacy was tainted by his "hey Obama, get off my lawn!" routine, which showed him to be senile and racist. Did lots of good films though.

The Ultimate believable “Tough Guy” - Stallone, Arnie, Bruce, Vin, etc - just “fluffers” :).
Perhaps Charles Bronson is up there but acting wise very dry.
Have loved Clints movies for as long as I can remember.

They don't make the tough guys like they used to, that's for sure.

Play Misty For Me.
This film was the start of Eastwood's directorial career, great atmospheric mystery film. He directed a film called Breezy starring William Holden in which he took no part as an actor. The he directed High Plains Drifter, The Eiger Sanction and The Outlaw Josie Wales, all amazing work. He didn't want to act in Gran Torino but Gene Hackman told him he was not coming out of retirement.

There is only one other actor as tough as Clint and Gene:

John Wayne is as tough as they came, in spite of their very different political views there was mutual respect between the tough guy actors. Wayne approached Lancaster twice to take part in John Ford films: The Quiet Man and The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance. Lancaster was getting his production company off the ground in the former and was already committed to Birdman of Alcatraz in the later. The roles went to Victor McLagen and Richard Widmark.

Great Clint he's amazing as an actor and director, he will never be forgotten. Here are some of Clint Eastwood's quotes:

“Tomorrow is promised to no one.”
― Clint Eastwood

“There's a rebel lying deep in my soul. Anytime anybody tells me the trend is such and such, I go the opposite direction. I hate the idea of trends. I hate imitation; I have a reverence for individuality.”
― Clint Eastwood,

“They say all marriages are made in heaven, but so are thunder and lightning.”
― Clint Eastwood

“I'm interested in the fact that the less secure a man is, the more likely he is to have extreme prejudice.”
― Clint Eastwood

“I tried being reasonable, but I didn't like it.”
― Clint Eastwood

Clint’s legacy is really something when you start listing all the films he’s directed much less the ones he’s starred in. Always on time and under budget. Flags of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima makes a great double-bill for a rainy Sunday.

Clint wasn't above taking a hit to his dignity...and Meathead did save his life.

Perhaps Dirty Harry's greatest partner.

His westerns and Dirty Harry series are all great. I even liked Paint Your Wagon.
I also love The Eiger Sanction. Nobody seems to talk about that one much.
Where Eagles Dare is another great one: Clint and Richard Burton in a WW2 thriller! ( also the title of a kick ass Iron Maiden song). 🐺
