which burner phone/sim card can I purchase and load up min. IN PERSON using cash ?

hello all,

I am going to give burner phone/sim card a try. Based on my search here, many of you recommend the following:

Both petro and 7eleven allow you to purchase minutes in person by cash at petro gas station or local 7eleven. But SIM card or phone has to be purchased online which mean it will be delivered to my address. I do not want my significant other to get suspicious about 2nd phone or sim card. I wonder what other burner phone or sim card options are out there that allow you to purchase sim card in person and load up min. in person? Any recommendations?

If you have an old unlocked phone, you can use the phone with the speakout SIM card.
Or you can use the SIM card in your current unlocked phone. You just have to swap the SIM card in and out.

Sounds like we have the same issues. I bought a SIM card for 25$/month cash at a kiosk in the mall in Mississauga last month. There was a one time 10$ fee for the SIM card. I don't know how to add minutes to it and probably will just buy another card for 35$ cash next trip.

I swapped out the sim card in my work phone to call and text agencies. This way I do not have to explain two phones but I will say that it was a pain in the ass. I was swapping in and out sim cards for Uber and to make confirmation calls. There has to be a better way.

I am thinking about getting another phone and telling my S.O. that I don't want my company to have access to all my texts and phone calls etc. because technically they can. I will even get on the family plan. When I go to Canada I will swap back in my Rogers SIM card.

I have no SO, so I’m good with getting a burner phone, since my cell is issued and paid for by my company and they have access to my call records (I doubt they examine numbers called in detail but I’d rather not take that chance). If I get a Speakout phone, do I need to jump through all those hoops involving a SIM card, whatever that is?

I have to get a new corporate phone. I wonder if I can get one that takes multiple SIM cards. I could have my business SIM card in and then add my Canadian SIM cards that I could buy over the counter. I am going to try this.

BTW J.A. - I had a boss that went through the numbers that all his employees were calling. He was really anal and he did this just prior to the time I joined the group so I was forewarned. I doubt that a normal manager or HR rep/auditor is going to go through all those numbers. Here's the risk though: When you make these calls you leave a record that doesn't go away (we do have a records retention policy). Should someone accuse you of harassment or being in the wrong place etc., your company then can go back through your phone records shopping for evidence of foul play.

How many escort agencies can you call and say "Oh that was a wrong number?"

Every major phone company has prepaid phone options. You can walk into any Telus, Bell, Rogers, Fido store and buy just a SIM card for a pre-existing phone. All phones are supposed to be unlocked now so if you have to call your current phone company and ask for that, do it ahead of time.

Some experience/insight:

-Koodo...walk into a mall, visit the store, ask for a pre-paid sim card. They might try to sell you stuff while there, typically never ask for name or anything (not needed) $20 plus tax cash.
-Pick up a used/cheap phone. There are stores all over the GTA that sell used phones - $100-$300 for a decent model, unlocked and ready to go.
-Buy Koodo prepaid vouchers at Petro Canada, again cash.

Note - Koodo rides on Bell networks so it's coverage is awesome.

-Sign up a free gmail account.
-Use that gmail account to sign up for prepaid Koodo. Use all the fake details you want.
-Activate the Sim, add the voucher, choose your plan:

-Charge the phone up to full. Remember to turn it off when you are not using it - you will get weeks of occasional use out of it and only need to charge it from time to time. Make sure it's locked. Hide it well (if needed).

Hell you can hot spot your regular phone and share data to your burner if you need it.

Just go to BestBuy, and pick up a Telus prepaid phone. Pay with cash, they do not ask questions. To activate it, use a prepaid VISA/MC vanilla card.

7-11 SIMs are in store (many stores keep them behind counters but I have seen a few on display)

Public Mobile is also prepay and can buy SIM in store + recharge voucher in store

Koodo (Telus) ONLY shares the RAN
You can still have outages based on core and as well certain geographic areas will have distinct coverage/speed differences esp if they have deployed different bands)

7/11 is better in that you can just put money down for minutes and its good for up to a year, no monthly plan needed at all.

7-11 Speakout: Phone, SIM card, and airtime purchased in person with cash, then activated over a public (i.e. anonymous) WiFi network. Cannot be simpler than that.

As the phone and airtime are entirely pre-paid, there is no need whatsoever for a credit check or contract and hence no need for any personal information to be divulged.
