Whats a good secondary phone provider to use?

A

Akila Besos

Hey everyone its your girl Maya/Akila and I have a question in regards to cellphone providers.

Currently my own personal phone is under a prepaid plan which isn't too bad for what i need in my daily life but i have been thinking about obtaining a secondary phone to use for work purposes.

So what are good options for a college student to use which aren't gonna be ridiculously high cost? I am open to any and all suggestions but also do not wish to get the pay per minute kind.

Redflagdeals has a good section on cellphone deals. If you are only looking for modest data and it to be mostly a phone, consider Zoomer (on Rogers network) think it is $45 for 7 gb, $300 towards a phone and unlimited calling. Good luck!

I've been with Freedom Mobile for a couple years, and my only limitation has been not being able to figure out the data "national" roaming when I went to Montreal (out of their direct coverage zone). They've got some decent rates, particularly if you have your own phone. Their customer service isn't spectacular, but I haven't had any complaints.

Do you need voice, text and data?

Kodoo is apparently prety good for pricing.

Plans - https://www.koodomobile.com/rate-plans?INTCMP=KMNew_NavMenu_Shop_Plans

Prepaid - https://www.koodomobile.com/prepaid-plans?INTCMP=KMNew_NavMenu_Shop_PrepaidPlans

https://www.themobilebase.ca/ is a good place to buy a cheap phone.

If you don’t need data, a prepaid plan is only $25/month but if you only need texting with limited voice use, you can get away with $15/month
I need it to include a fair amount of everything tbh

But i will for sure check this out

Thank you:)

Freedom are now offering the following Plan:

Shaw’s Freedom Mobile is apparently offering a $25 per month plan with 3GB of data, which includes 1,000 long distance minutes, plus unlimited Canada-wide talk and text, for new customers.
I have always been using my Business Cellphone even for personal use. I decided to get a separate personal phone and this Freedom Mobile Plan seems to be ideal. It is true that they are offering 1000 long distance minutes per month and is that even for foreign countries?

Anyone know if you can just convert one of these phones to an eSIM? Just buy a cheap phone or SIM card but convert it to eSIM on your “regular” daily phone?

I use q link wireless for my work phone. This provider offers qualifying customers free monthly unlimited data, talk, and text through the federal Lifeline & Emergency Broadband Benefit programs. It is convenient. You can address them via q link wireless phone number and find out the details, if interested.
