Squiffy, im not sure if you are familiar with the original done by one of my Favs from the 60,6 and 70,s Dusty Springfield........the song was originally offered to Aretha Franklin who turned it down, reportedly because she felt it was to risque for her image,,,,,,,,,,Dusty was more than happy to record it
Yes, familiar. Didn't know it was offered to AF but the subtlety of DS's vocals really make the song.

Here's another one from that era that I could listen to over and over again. Singing not screaming like many of today's vocalists.

maybe only the old goats on here have heard of Timi Yuro.....and i just heard this song on the radio..............soft voice and then powerful enough to slay you...........one of the great voices in pop historry imo

Great song and great recording by her, however, this real old goat remembers that the original recording was by Ray Price, before hers. My favourite cover was by Eddy Arnold.
