Who is getting the virus?

In the early days, people over 80 years old made up the largest group getting sick as long-term care homes were hit hard, resulting in more older people getting tested.

But CBC's analysis reveals that since mid-August, infections among young people (under 30) have surged and now, after a summer of provincial reopenings and expanded testing, cumulatively outnumber the elderly.

COVID-19 infections are also on the rise among the very youngest (under 20) as schools, colleges and universities reopen.

Who's being hospitalized?

Close to 10 per cent of people who tested positive for coronavirus wound up in hospital, according to the cases tracked by PHAC.

Two per cent of cases landed in intensive care units (ICU) across all ages but mostly among people over 50.

In people admitted to hospital, shortness of breath and fever were more common symptoms while headaches, sore throat and runny nose were seen more often in less severe cases.

Truly mind boggling that there are still very few covidiots praising the Swedish model and using it as a comparison of success to the USA when it's been substantially worse than their Nordic border neighbours Denmark, Finland, Norway who shutdown, with whom they share so many societal norms.
Not only do these people not understand the basics of how the virus works they also lack any understanding of Europe. As other European nations open up so do the Swedes, although they didn't shutdown, most of the Swedish pepole were working from home, now that other European nations have opened up more Swedes are going back to work at their offices and factories.

The ridiculous part is Rand is a Doctor. It just goes to show some doctors are outliers that really do not deserve to be called doctors or at the very least stick to the field they studied medicine in. Not all health care professionals opinions are worthy of listening to on the Coronavirus. The infectious disease doctors and health care professionals experienced on and dealing on the front lines with COVID for the most part 99.99% all agree on how to deal with the COVID threat, minus the 0.01% who've made it a political issue, those who have something to gain from it or simply the others who are idiots.
