Wow, looks like someone has a real hate-on for the prof.
The wording of the article doesn't make a clear connection between the prof and prostitution activities. IMO, the article is doing it's best to be vague (to avoid litigation).

..."The e-mails, which began last week, have included semi-nude photos of a woman and links to escort service websites, e-mail correspondence, and a transcript of an interview purportedly between a university researcher and a sex worker marked "Internal Office Use Only" and "Private & Confidential."...

It wouldn't surprise me, neither if (1) the "emails" were fake and someone was out to get this professor, or (2) the "emails" were good and this professor actually worked as a sex-worker. We know a lot of the time, they work in this field to supplement income while they study. Sometimes that's just a standard story they tell us, sometimes it's real. So the fact that an academic graduated all of the way towards professorship wouldn't surprise me at all.

It sounds to me like this may have generated on one of the Montreal forums. I don't see how someone could know about the contents of a private "email" unless this was really a public forum posting rather than an email.

It seems odd to me that someone is making such a big deal about this, especially since at least one other prof (Chris Bruckert) at U of O openly admits to being a former 'sex worker'. She's quite well published, and seems well respected. I do wonder though if by chance it was her that they are talking about since she says that she only stripped. But who knows, either way, if they do fire her I think it would be a grossly bad move.

Frankly who really cares........If she wants to be a teacher/prof or TA now whats the harm in that??
Its not like she is hurting anyone or stealing like most politicians do everyday.....
Life is to short to dwell on the past.
I hope she is does well at what ever she wants to do in her life!!

well maybe if the university actually paid contract professors a half decent salary or hourly wage then it wouldn't necessarily be an issue (assuming she does what she does only for the money), and regardless of anything... who cares? She is trying to make a living and creating a nest egg for herself... as long as she isnt't hurting anyone or having students as clients, people should mind their own business.
