Trump at 36 percent approval among African-Americans, new poll finds

Even as cable news networks debate reports of the existence of a recording of President Donald Trump using a racial slur, a new poll from Rasmussen Reports says that the president's approval rating among African-Americans is at 36 percent, nearly double his support at this time last year.

"Today's @realDonaldTrump approval ratings among black voters: 36%," Rasmussen said in a tweet. "This day last year: 19%."

That is a staggeringly high number for a man who only won 8 percent of the African-American vote in 2016.

It is even more unexpected given the president's rocky history on matters related to race, including his current nasty feud with former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman, who has alleged Trump said "n word" on the set of the reality-TV show "The Apprentice."

Conservatives celebrated the poll as a sign of trouble for Democrats in upcoming elections.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of the conservative campus group Turning Point USA, cited the poll as evidence that Trump "is breaking the Democrat party as we know it."

Scariest part of this poll? Trump doesn't need 30% to runaway with the election. All he needs is 10%-12% to put the election out of Democrats' reach.

According to Ana Navarro, a Republican Strategist...... Zero chance this Rasmussen and Emerson College Polls are accurate. Zero. The poll must have only been conducted in the homes of Ben Carson, Kanye, that sheriff guy with the hat and those two Cubic Zirconia & Polyester-Spandex ladies. https://t.co/vsmXJBY1KB

The CNN host had plenty of support for her Rasmussen bias and inaccuracy claim, with pollster Frank Luntz noting past discrepancies from the polling firm about black voters supporting Trump ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.

"One week before the 2018 elections, Rasmussen had President Trump's support among black Americans at 40 percent. According to exit polls, only 8 percent of black voters nationwide voted for Republican candidates," Luntz tweeted Monday.

Who can disagree with her assessment if that is precisely what the same polls were alleging during the 2018 Mid term elections. Especially as the same Rasmussen Poll rated Trump's popularity among Blacks at 40% then!!

https://www.wsj.com/articles/among-black-voters-trumps-popularity-inches-upward-1541547594

So now the popularity rating has dropped by 4 Points..................... Right?? Bahahahaha!!

It is in the bag so long as the economy doesn’t tank. Dems are clowns.
Wishful thinking on your part. Trump runs a Banana Republican Party where they have to stay silent and not utter a word against him. Sad state of affairs!!

ROFLMAO! Ana Navarro is a Republican strategist like Bill Kristol, only a little bit more racist.

Lots of projection. Sounds like the Democratic Party once again where they pick leaders based on skin colour/sex and the fact that ‘it was her turn’.

Even Obama agrees the Dems are handing this to Trump.

The right winger used to love her when she was and still is a true and true Republican, until she rightfully pointed out Trump's racism. We all know that she felt very insulted with Trump's blatant attacks on Hispanics and Mexicans in the primaries. She had the balls to speak out against it unlike weasels like Lindsey Graham who have done 180 degrees with Trump in this respect. Now the Right wingers are misconstruing her statements where she refutes the accuracy of these polls from the likes of Rasmussen!!

LOL! Doesn't matter. There are plenty of Republicans, especially the "leading thinkers" that failed to adapt. They already had two strikes against them: the disdain for the Tea Party and trying to replace Romney with Jeb. Taking a position against the primaries winner only sealed their faith.

Ana Novarro believes in her principles and will not capitulate to what she thinks is not what the Republican Party stood for. The online right wing websites have her on their attack radar when she refused to budge. But labelling her as a "racist" is really what a Conspiracy Website is all about. Especially as she was the one to call out Trump with regards to the fact that his comments were racist. Period!!

They all have issues. You just didn't like this result.

I don't buy it either. But the black vote is not as monolithic as people think. They can and will stay home. Or vote Republican.

And it's less about identity politics and more about class warfare now.
What result are you talking about?? Rasmussen is known to exaggerate the polls in favour of Trump. They consistently gave him over close to 50 and even over 50% support. We are not talking about favourability rating but support for Trump.

Blacks do not tend to vote as often as The Whites or Hispanics. But are you saying that if the Blacks go to vote, it will more likely be Republican?? Definitely more likely to be Democratic!!

Not so much Class warfares. But State Demographics. If more urban voters make it to the polls, then the Democrats have a better chance of winning. Otherwise the rural voters are more passionate Trump supporters!!

Ana Navarro failed to adapt. Like her fellow "conservatives" she missed the shift within the Republican Party. The Frums, Kristols thought themselves the avantgarde of the American conservatism, the gate keepers and the arbiters of what is or should be THE issue. It turned out that they were shouting to the empty hall. The fact that they would not compromise with Trump and the grassroots only nailed their coffins shut. So, now they peddle their merchandise on CNN or ABC, token Republicans to be used in attacks on the party's choice. I think there's a word or two that describes such individuas.

I have to question these numbers as they seem jarringly out of synch with all the other polling that consistently has trump receiving about 10% support amongst Black voters.
