TSN radio spending alot more time at Leaf camp then the Leafs ... 590 is Jays Jays Jays ...

Yesterday and Today is Kessel talk ...

Kessel said he doesn’t talk about hockey in the summer, not like some in this town.

“I talk fishing, golf, poker,” he said. “That’s about it.”

He said he doesn’t play hockey in the summer, not like many of his NHL peers.

“Honestly, I skated maybe . . . I don’t want to tell you this, but I skated 10 times maybe all summer,” he said.

Phill seems like a throw back type of player ... When players came to camp to get in shape ..

Good a guess as any given what there is to work with. Personally I think this team has a major problem if Tyler Bozak continues to be considered a true first line NHL centre. Really? A team like Toronto simply can't do any better? Shame.

Bozak may not be considered a top #1 centre in the NHL but the chemistry he has with Kessel and JVR can not be matched right now. Number 1 centres in the NHL are hard to acquire and the asking price for them are often steep. Boy did Doug Gilmour ever spoil us Leaf fans, yes Cliff stole him from Calgary, GMs today are smarter not to get fleeced. Most teams now these days develop their number one centres from the farm system. Leafs have to do the same, once they sort out their scouting and farm system.

Tyler Ball Sack is a third line centre on a top six team. Leafs out of the playoffs, again. ESPN reminded us this week that MLSE is the worst owner in pro sports in North America. The problems are deeper than mediocrity at centre.

Kessel's numbers are better away from Bozak.

You really believe that there aren't at least 15-20 other centremen out there that could provide a better boost in numbers for both Kessel and JVR? Chemistry is all nice and shit, but wins is the only thing that counts. I simply do not believe that Bozak can really be the best/only option available to help the Leafs win. Shanahan and Nonis better wake up to this fact soon or their season will be over by Xmas. Besides - what the hell are they paying Nonis for anyway!? As GM, if he can't pull the trigger on one truly significant and impactful trade and wrangle something better than Bozak, they should eject him now and find someone else; anyone else. Couldn't possibly do any worse!

So when they fire Nonis. Why don't you apply for the Leafs GM job? You make it sound real easy. Like to see who you'll bring in as the number one center and at what cost? I mean anything to bring the Leafs back as contenders would be welcomed.

Dude, I would package up 5-6 existing stiffs plus a pile of cash and I'm sure there are teams that would jump. This team will not get better until they tear the whole thing down and start from scratch. Kadri? Gone. Phaneuf? Gone? Bozak? Gone. Colton Orr? Gone. Reimer? Gone. Other than Kessel, JVR, Reilly and Bernier no one should be untouchable in a packaged trade. Is there some reason the Leafs just could not possibly pry some good centres loose from other teams, even if the trade is a bit lopsided? How come Nonis couldn't seem to pull off something to acquire some real talent at centre the likes of Stephen Weiss, Eric Staal, Brad Richards, Jason Spezza, Brandon Dubinsky, and even Tyler Seguin?

He would have to share the job with all the other TERB GM's. There's a bunch of them.

Kessel's been great and look at all bitching we still hear about overpaying for him.

The arm chair GMs of the Toronto maple Leafs. What was that line in money ball? "There are rich teams, there are middle of the pack teams, there are the poor teams and there is a pile of shit." That's what the Leafs are with the terb arm chair GMs.

Yup, that easy huh? Have you submitted your application yet? Wait Dubass was more qualified.

Why he would just go out and acquire Crosby from the Pens or Getzlaf from the Ducks for Kadri and Reimer. Apparently it is that easy.
