If you took all the businesses closed in the last year in the GTA and all the buildings that have been torn down in the last ten you would have a pretty livable city right there...
I look at these ranking things and realize many of them have subjective criteria. And have different weight to different things.
All in all if you are say top 25-50 then you are in great shape. After that its just pesky annoyances and First World Problems.

Toronto has become a hellhole. Condos and chain stores. Pockets of livability becoming fewer and fewer. Ugly poor quality condo on top of Shoppers/Dollarama seems to be the model.
Even Cabbagetown is now a soulless place. Politicians should be ashamed of what they’ve done. Reminds me of Panama City - drug money laundering capital of South America.

I always found it hilarious when Toronto and Vancouver made the list of "most livable cities".
The people who made these lists obviously knew nothing about either city. It's common to fork over half your monthly salary or more to pay the rent in Toronto and Vancouver. That's hardly "livable".
