Tie Domi showed recently just what an ignorant buffoon he is. The cause, an interview on The Fan 590 with Pierre McGuire. McGuire stated that he believed that 70% of the NHLPA would vote (privately) in favour of a link with a between revenue and salaries... a cap. This assessment was made after a conversation with a player. McGuire is not a dummy, he wouldn't say this unless there was some tuth to it. Domi in turn loses his cool... go figure. Not only does he call this statement an absolute joke and says the the players are "all together" in this, but he even declared that "players would no longer co-operate with McGuire." He even went so far as to say that "players are keeping close watch on critics." Meaning that the Union will quash any and all dissenting voices. Domi... what a guy.

Yeah I listened to that on the fan. The FAN lost some credibility with me. I mean to gauge player opinion on the labour issue they turn to Domi as a spokeman for them?? Give me a break. Most definately the players are overreacting to Macquire comments. After all it was only an opinion. Guys got to stop taking things so literally. Everybody is talking and adding their 2 cents worth. And in my book I will take Macquire 2 cents in hockey talk over Domi's any day.

Both guys are entitled to their opinions. Domi is the consumate union guy and his comments demonstrate the dangers of a union mentality. Unions are all about moving up the lowest common demoninator. I think the fact that Domi makes more than $2 million a year is a perfect example of that and explains why he'd be so militant.

I think Tie Domi is thinking of his future seeing that his hockey days are approaching an end and he would love to be the next Don Cherry

I finally heard the original clip from MacGuire that started everything and he was quite clear that he was only restating what one player beleieved to be true if they were to hold a secret ballot. There was nothing inflamitory about the statement and it there's no reason to think MacGuire was making it up.

Tie is going to be 36 years old in November with retirement staring him straight in the face when hockey comes around again in a season or two. It's funny how too many shots to his "hard" head impair judgement.

Exactly. What we have here is a rogue player that is only employed because he uses his fists trying to tell people that he has more hockey sense then MacGuire. The media has given way too much attention to PG's statement. He was merely offering an opinion on what someone was 'venting' to him.

Domi had to deny the allegations... it was a strategy that Pierre did to bring news to the forfront... The questions were discussed prior and Domi had to say what supports his union. Period. Yes, he is a loose Cannon, but in this interview, it was all staged... just imagine if he would have leaked... it would have destroyed the Union's credibility. (Which I feel is already crumbling as I said back in the fall- the majority of today's players would play under a capped system if it meant not playing at all to refuse it) the fact of the matter is that the players are starting to realize that they are not in their rightful market playing in Europe... they are wasting their talent away, they are getting injured, they are playing inferior quality and picking up bad habits, many have lost their focus. you gotta remember, alot of these guys have families- kids in school, etc. and they aren't as mobile as say a 17 or 22 year old!

Domi reeks of hypocrisy. Mcguire is lying, Domi is negotiating as he put it.

IMO, players are showing everyone their true colours during the past few months. Nothing wrong with looking after #1, but dont shove half-truths in my face all the time.

Fans will slowly wake up to the fact that they are bring taken for a ride. Luke Richardson was quoted that Columbus is the model franchise (the team which has missed the playoffs every year).

I hope the NHL loses a lot of fans permanently.

Easy on Tie? You gotta be kidding. The way he 'expresses' his opinion and the words/actions that follows is part of the reason alot of TERB members are criticising him (I think he gives off the impression that he's arrogant/ignorant/stupid to alot of members on this forum- but that is another subject). Just because he's been a 'solid enforcer' and does community work does not make him immune to criticism- it's part of the price you pay for being in the PUBLIC eye. In return, he gets to play a GAME while making alot of $$$ doing it.

As for you're assumption that he does more community work than probably ALL of us put together- How the would you know? You his publicity rep? You keep track of every minute of his his community work? More importantly- you keep track of EVERY TERB members community work? I've done community work in the past, and I'm sure there are many other forum members that have as well. For you to make that ASSumption shows some of your narrow-mindedness.

He does have a right to express his opinion. BUT SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE!
