Thread and posting management question

When we post something, I know we have a window of opportunity to go back to that post and edit it. I think it's 24 hours or so.
My questions are, is there a way to go back into a thread I've started after that window has passed?
And, is there a way to delete a thread that I started?

Try deleting your post, I think the thread will disappear.

To delete a thread you started, just delete your first post. If the "Edit post" button doesn’t show for your post, then the time limit has expired for you to delete/edit your own post.

In that case, you can use the report feature (triangle thingee with the exclamation point) to report the post to the mods. We may entertain your request to delete it.
