The gist of the article is CONSERVA-DUMBS are scamming the public, by (again) lower taxes for rich people.

Yawn.

These CONSERVA-DUMBS will never stop voting for tax breaks to rich people and cuts to themselves, cuts to their families and friends and cuts to others.

They'll never stop.

Just slap a sky-high tax on gas. When no one
buys the product of the oil industry or buy a lot
less of it they will no longer be able to scam our
government.

Good idea. The 50% tax on fuel or whatever it is these days, is not enough. To save the planet it should be at least doubled because the current economic depression might not be enough to finish the Canadian economy. Similarly, the corporate taxes in Alberta should go up, too. An industry that is lying on its back and the rest of the province with it, after the recent good news from Biden can only be saved by paying more of their "fair share".

Albertans are supposed to hard-working, get it done folks, yet they are incredibly risk averse.

Ralph Klein told Albertans that they are Canada's Texas, Fredo delivered a harsh budget that smacked of George Osborne budget prior to Brexit. Albertans bought Shiva Scheer's "oil hegemony" hook line and sinker delivering to him of the Provinces Federal seats. They'd rather be in the boom/bust cycle rather than plot a new course. Now the Keystone pipeline is dead and so will the Transmountain. BC's economy is booming, I doubt they'll want to see it destroyed for the sake of Oil Sands bitumen.

I've already mentioned why...just in case you weren't paying attention.

Sure, why not prove again why Alberta's process has been so much smarter than Norway's process with their oil.
Clearly high taxes and environmental rules have wiped out Norway while Alberta is a beacon of economic success.
Just because Norway has a $1 trillion pension fund doesn't mean anything.

If you new the difference between the Norwegian and the Canadian/Alberta approach to the natural resources management you wouldn't embarras yourself by posting garbage. But, you don't..

The cons in Alberta used oil revenues to lower taxes for Albertans, Norway put it in a fund that now has $1 trillion in it.
You gonna argue that Alberta was smarter now?

"Lower taxes for Rich people" ???
the issue is a reduction in the provincial corporate rate from 10% to 8%
This has spurred a project increase in capital investment of $3,4 Billion dollars as it was expected to do as it makes more projects profitable on an after bax basis.
This has nothing to do with "Lower taxes for Rich people"

Here is a little about the author of the article

"I have a bachelor’s degree in drama and French and working on a second undergraduate degree, in political economy."

"I write daily news stories, focusing on municipal, provincial, and federal politics, specializing in investigative journalism and critical analysis from a leftist political lens. I also write regular editorials on general politics and social issues. "

So we have another loonie left DRAMA expert who really understands very little about the economics of resource extraction, who has come to the wildly incorrect conclusion about the value the oil and gas sector provides to Alberta and our country

.
Canadian oil and natural gas provided $110 billion to Canada’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019, supported almost 550,000 jobs across the country in 2018 and provided $10 billion in average annual revenue to governments for the period 2017 to 2019. This revenue helps pay for roads, school and hospitals.

The oil and gas industry is not scamming Alberta or Canada

If Justin Trudeau had a clue he should be worried about the 550,000 jobs he is trying to kill and the $10 Billion in annual government revenue which he is putting at risk
You should be worried about this too

But then the lonnie left just does not want to get a clue

#1 You really should start looking for unbiased reporting rather than the liberal sponsored and oh so obviously biased CBC. They will blame a hang-nail on climate change
#2. "delivering to him of the Provinces Federal seats." Can you name a time when Alberta did not vote conservative in a Federal election?
#3 "Now the Keystone pipeline is dead and so will the Transmountain." So Justin wasted $4B of taxpayer money on a project he knew he would let die?
#4. "BC's economy is booming" This is due to housing & construction in an overheated housing market

Johnny LaRue so good to hear from you again! Have you tried the Rabbit Fricassee at Scaramouche?

You can deny climate change but you can't deny that BC is on the Cascades Fault Line. So far BC has avoided major earthquakes, Alaska has taken the brunt of them, but that could change as BC glaciers recede. BC has a diversified economy with a burgeoning tech center, a film industry and outdoor sports. Unfortunately it's tourist industry could take a major hit if Transmountain drives the Orca pods in the Georgia Strait into extinction. Washington St is dead set against Transmountain as they will take a hit as well. Transmountian is also logistically impossible. Mountains shift, it will take much more than $4B to get the project completed. I'd rather my/our tax money be used for something more beneficial, the market in the Far East for Alberta bitumen is drying up.

We don't have much in common except, maybe, soft pillows.
