So, my friends and I have resurrected an old argument about the most "important" position in all of professional sports. As a hockey fan, I KNOW the answer is a goalie! In this group of five, I stand alone as three insist it is the pro quarterback and one is on the fence (he is the worst of all!!). Inevitably, we start talking about terms like "most difficult," "most demanding," etc and whether or not there is a difference between "important," "difficult," and "demanding"... and whether or not it even matters. We all admit it takes a very skillset to play these positions, and "brains" (and ability to think quickly) seems to be where they think a quarterback separates himself. Does it take any intelligence at all to play goalie? Is it purely "instinctual" and courageous? They say a quarterback requires more courage as he is potentially hit on every play. Does this even matter when talking about most "important" or is it more relevant to the question of more "difficult"? Anyway, I think you get the idea. Just curious what you all think as I am here in the U.S and think there is regional bias built into the question/answer
