Ratings for the Fever (featuring Caitlin Clark) vs Sun game was 2.5 million. It peaked at 3.2 million. This was the highest ratings ever for a WNBA game.
The ratings for the other game featuring the Minnesota Lynx and the Phoenix Mercury was 1.5 million.
By comparison, ratings for NHL playoff game in 2024 averaged 1.54 million viewers. In other words, ratings for WNBA playoff game not featuring Caitlin Clark was the same as a typical NHL playoff game..
Increasing popularity of the WNBA is the reason 3 more franchises are coming in the Bay Area (2025), Toronto and Portland (2026), bringing the total to 15.
Caitlin Clark is doing for the WNBA what Tiger Woods did for golf: bringing significantly more eyes to the game and generating significantly more revenue to the benefit of all.

Hasn't the lesbian angle been a constant rumour about Women's professional golf, and to a lesser extent Women's professional tennis?
What Caitlin Clark is experiencing is jealousy plus a healthy dose of racism. And much less to do with LGBTQ issue.
Most of the players make on average $120,000 and supplement that by playing overseas during the offseason. Then here comes Clark. Her sponsorship deal with Nike alone is worth about 40% of the salary of the ENTIRE league. Needless to say, she doesnt need to play overseas. She will be playing golf, she said. So the other players, even top ones like A'Ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, are burning inside with jealousy. And in a league which is predominantly black, the old age boogy issue of racism is raising its ugly head.
That attendance this season was up by 48% due largely to Clark, and ratings for games featuring Clark were through the roof, and that increased revenue because of Clark will help all of them mean little to the other players. All they see is a white girl making boatload of money. If they've heard how a black man Tiger Woods transformed golf for the financial benefit of all the players, they care even less. All they care about is their much poorer situation compared to Clark. And they are hopping mad about that. Sad.
And what about Clark herself? She speaks highly of former and current players in plain, not ghetto, English. She dresses conventionally not in rags. She signs autographs endlessly. And she is a heck of a player. Better than all but 3 other players, according to votes for MVP. And she is the most exciting player to ever play in the WNBA. That's it!
Oh, there is another rookie player who doesnt have to play overseas to supplement her salary. She had a $1.8 million deal when she was in college. So her current deal has to be significantly more. And that is none other than Angel Reese. Reebok signed her not just for footwear but also apparel aptly named Reebok X Angel Reese. She has other endorsements with Beats by Dre and SI Swimsuit. You see her picture? Enough said. And she led the league in average rebounding and set records for double-double as a ROOKIE.
Are they not hating on her because she is black? You decide.
Ms. Reese sounds savvy here...She's riding Clark's coat tails and that's the right thing to do.
They have a bankable rivalry that the league can exploit for years to come...Bird/Magic perhaps.
Again I doubt it.
