Hello TERB,

I plan on visiting Toronto very soon and hope to visit a Asian SP. I`m assuming there will be a high chance that they are Cantonese with limited to no English skills. So I want to try and make my session better by defeating the language barrier.

However I have no idea how to approach this as I don`t know any sexual terms, service terms (eg. BBBJ, FS) or how to talk "dirty" in Cantonese....

I`ve read this thread https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=175239 but I kinda got lost after a while.

So can anyone teach me any words?

In case your wondering I asked my friends before and I all got was blank stares and strange looks probably because they`re all CBC`s or immigrated when they were young. Yea I`m also a CBC myself, so I need some help badly.

There is absolutely no need to learn Cantonese. Every sp can speak basic English, or at least the terms for the industry. Worst comes to worst, just gesture.

also, it seems to me that Mandarin goes farther nowadays in any case.

Certainly for anyone who has come to Canada from the PRC, and isn't older than 60.

Pretty much everyone in Hong Kong understands it as well. It may not be their first language and their Mandarin might not be very good, but it'll be better than your Mandarin ;)

If you speak English and you speak Mandarin the odds that you will encounter someone from HK that you cannot communicate with are slim to none.

Actually...there are some highly regarded asian SPs in Toronto who aren't fresh off the boat. IMO, those SPs generally provide a higher level of overall service than the ones off the boat. Do a search for Keana, Luana, Jube and Kim Ly and you'll see what I mean...

Got that. What about BJ?
Uhhh...chinese is a VERY tonal language. Based on the phonetics, try and imagine the number of tones and inflections you could have. Not the easiest thing to figure out.

Babelfish might get you something printable, but I think it's kinda weak to walk in and show a piece of paper in the heat of the moment. I think you'll be okay with english. How do you think everybody else gets by?

Yea I know about tones and how to use them but I just want to learn some slang words which Babelfish ain't gonna give. There's a chance that I've heard the words before so tones is not an issue.
