Trump is much more entertaining when announcing terrorist deaths.

"Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi IS DEAD"

"DIED LIKE A DOG"

Afghans, not Americans, should decide Afghanistan's future. As long as the Taliban leaves the West alone, there is no reason they can't rule their own country if they manage to secure power. There's a very good chance they won't bother the rest of the world because they don't want American troops back. I'm not sure what brand of Islam the Afghans are, but it's noteworthy that ISIS never had a base in Afghanistan comparable to their territory in Syria.

What makes you think they will leave the west alone? Do you base security decisions on "there being a very good chance...."

The terrorist groups that fear Trump the most will say they want him re-elected, hoping it will undermine his re-election bid.

Such groups ONLY make statements that they believe will benefit them. The political play is to align themselves with Trump, and therefore cast doubt among the American public so that they don't vote for him. If that happens, the Taliban wins.

So you think they know he is lying about withdrawing American troops and therefore don't want him to win because there is a better chance of the troops coming home under Biden?

Withdrawing troops from Afghanistan doesn't mean the the US won't continue to arm and finance governments there who will keep the Taliban out of power and curtail their terrorism. It just means that Americans won't get killed doing it.

So you are saying Trump will go back on the peace deal he signed with the Taliban to withdraw troops but leave them in control over sections of Afghanistan and that the Taliban know this is a lie, so they are claiming to support him because he promised to withdraw troops as part of that deal but they secretly expect him to renege on his deal so they are announcing they support him to tank his chances so that they can strike a new deal with Biden?

What would be in it for them? If Trump turns tail as promised (I know, I know, that could change tomorrow) they can do whatever they want. ISIS will have a home again. And all the Canadians and Americans who shed blood in the grave of empires - LEWSERS....

Not so fast.

If the Americans withdraw, then Afghanistan becomes Russia's problem. Putin has enough on his plate already, his sweet luck has turned sour. Russia has been hit much harder by Radical Islam than the USA - even with 9/11.

There is no need for Russia to be involved if the Taliban stay within their own borders. Russia invaded Afghanistan to preserve communism. There is no more communism to save. Putin has often denounced the Communist past.
