Hmmm, I just thought of something. I never gave much thought to the gov't importing strippers to work in the GTA, but perhaps it is a good way to introduce potential Canadian citizens from people in countries that traditionally do not emigrate to Canada (i.e. Romania or Mexico).

Sure, we get a lot of people from the Caribbean and Asia so no need to encourage imports of strippers from those countries. But how many Romanians or Mexicans do you know that emigrated to Canada on their own? Not too many.

Plus, stripping allows new immigrants to potentially make greater wages than they otherwise would, thus improving the chances they do not become a burden on the system.

It also attracts young females, who are needed in Canadian society for their child-bearing value since our birthrate is so low.

I dunno if this is an actual gov't policy, but it sure makes sense to me! Why else would you allow foreign strippers to emigrate to your country at all?

I don't think you will get any Mexicans as they can literally walk into US and walk back to Mexico.

It said today in the paper that Mexico was the number two source of dancer immigrants to Canada, trailing only Romania. I was suprised also, I would have guessed other EE countries.

These strippers are on work permits and leave after the contract finished. Why you want to allow stripper with no skill and no education in Canada? Canada do not need another inflow of welfare burnden. Unless these dances are sponsored by persons who are responsibile for them for 10 years.

I wonder if the local gals get pissed off at foreign girls potentially stealing their jobs as say tech workers get at outsourcing or H1B visas....

Romanians

There are MANY Romanian Dancers now in Canada. Charley Ts has a a lot of them.

There are also a great many Romanian IT professionals in Canada.

I would not say that Romanians are unaware of Canada as a country yo which to emigrate. In fact, I think that Canada is probably the destination of choice for most of the world.

Many people do want to come to Canada.... and some of them want to come here to use Canada as a stepping stone to the US. I've met more than just a few people who have either taken off to the US or are planning to do so once they get their Canadian citizenship. To be honest I hate when people use us as a stepping stone to the US.

Yes they come on work visas, but no they don't always leave afterwards. A significant number go through the immigration process and stay in the country. It's just a matter of how badly they want to stay. I know several girls who have done this very thing.

As for people going to the US, fine with me - I don't want people in this country who: a) don't really want to be here, or b) are more concerned about their ability to make money than anything else.

You'd be surprised how many Canadians move to the US, only to return "home" after a number of years. The grass isn't always as green on the other side of the hill...

True.. but I hate how they wait to get a Canadian citizenship before bailing out on us. They are now "Canadians" just like you and me even though they have no desire to stay here and never did.

I find that true for many Canadians who were raised or spent a lot of time in Canada and embrace what Canada stands for, and less so for the ones who had the US in their sights from the beginning.
