I've received SI for many years. Always thought their articles and many of their writers were topnotch. IMO, when they went from weekly to monthly, that was warning flag considering the rates didn't change but went up. With what's happening now, it seems more about the bottom line vs quality sports reporting/articles even if the bottom line is slightly less profitable. Sad times indeed. ;(

Traditional media like magazines, newspapers, books and broadcast TV / radio are going the way of the dodo because individuals often make better content than them.

I still remember being in grade 7 and one of my classmates brought the Cheryl Teigs 1978 SI swimsuit edition. All the boys went gaga and then our jerkwad teacher found out and gave all the boys in the class a lecture about pornography. SI was the gateway to Playboy, to Penthouse, Swank, and other delicious filth before the internet.
Have read SI in over 35 years.

I never bother reading SI but it was a pleasure to see it on the Magazine stands next to baby magazines.

Ronda Rousey posed naked for SI. The publicly available photos were supposed to be discreet but some photos of her girly bits were leaked.

Correction: It was ESPN and not SI.
