Should you pay parking tickets on a rental?

Yes, that seems to be the one. She just wanted to pay it but he was really pissed off because there is not a single sign around advising that it is illegal to park overnight. I heard that there was some sort of bylaw about this but having never gotten a ticket for this sort of infraction, I couldn't advise them one way or the other. They decided to pay it though. It wasn't very much, like $15 or something. I do see his point though. How can someone from out of town know about Toronto bylaws? Shouldn't be signs advising of this 3 hour rule? It really does smack of having your pocket picked.
That's why at the very least and as a matter of principle, you should write a letter to your city councilor and explain what happened and let he/she know that you are dissatisfied with the job they are doing as your elected representative and that your friends from out of town will not be spending a dime in Toronto anymore because they feel unwelcome and taken advantage of by the city.

I wish Torontonians were a little less mellow and would actually kick some of these bastards out of the city council.

There are signs, just not on every street.

The 3-hour parking time limit is on the "Welcome to Toronto" sign when you drive into the city (e.g., if you drive on, say, Warden, and go south of Steeles).

What? Because your friend got a $15 dollar ticket for parking on the street for an excessively long time—it is a street, not a parking lot—we should pay the taxes to clutter every lamp post with yet another parking sign? At $30-50/sign plus installation and maintenance?

Sorry. True friends warn friends about local parking rules. Smart folks ask.

Yes, I suppose I am not a true friend because I did not warn him of a parking law for which there are no visibly posted signs and for which I have never personally received a ticket.

Your friends can always contest the ticket and argue their case in court :p even if they lose the court date will definately cost the city more than the $15, if its a matter of principle for you!

do not pay parking tickets!!!!!!!!!!!

go to the courts listed on the back and ask for a court date

you will never get one therefore you never pay

this does not work for the bigger fines though ie parking in a designated wheelchair spot
