I just got a letter from Shell saying that the EasyPay tag (lets you pay at the pump easily) is stopping as of June 1st.
I can't believe they would get rid of something like this!

They don't give a reason.. I wonder if it was getting a lot of fraud?

I believe you can do the same thing as the tag with the new chip cards.

Good point peteeey.. although it's not an option as of June 1st.. it's back to swiping your credit card and air miles card each transation now.
The good news is they are giving the chance to get 300 bonus miles :)

I use the ESSO Speedpass and I love that thing, really, really convenient! I hope they don't discontinue it!

They may be going to the same type of system run by Mastercard or Visa, they will still make make money from credit but do not have to run the credit system internally.

Perhaps Air miles should get their act together also and get a chip on their card. They need a reader at the pumps, then it's tap credit card and tap Air Miles card.

Probably people have been losing their tags or claiming losing their tags? dunno but it was so convinient just one tag instead of fumbling with cards and wallets on cold winter nights, not having to worry about those fake card readers.
Might have to actually start using my ZoomPass.

The airmiles number was also linked to the pass. So you pay and get your airmiles with one swipe.

I was offered 400 bonus Airmiles, and got a new gold coloured Airmiles card. Airmiles stopped issuing gold cards a number of years ago because gold status must be earned each year.

It could be for security reason why their opting out of the easy pay. I herd it's pretty easy to steal/dupilcate cards with wifi/RFID. All you need is a computer, software and some sort credit card reader/writter and that's it.

They actually have special wallets you can get to protect against such attacks (can't seem to find the link). Or you can line your wallet with aluminum foil.

I just checked.. I was sent 2 new gold cards and can get 300 airmiles based on gas purchased in the next 3 months..
I dont' think you're right about air miles issuing gold cards though.. my "old" one is gold and I got that within the last year, maybe 2 years ago.
