This is a pretty stupid post. Its almost like you started off sensibly and then had a meltdown half way through :ROFLMAO:

The bolded sentence wouldn't have happened in the case of Ukraine, if there was either a) No NATO or b) NATO exists but does not expand and/or threaten Russia by meddling in Ukraine.

The rest of your post makes no sense at all and I read it like 5 times.
Do you not even realize when you are being mocked?

Do you understand how spheres of influence work? They dont work because countries trade with one another.
Citation needed.

Russia is a political, military and economic power in the region. The same way the US is in this part of the world. Canada and Mexico are free, but we are heavily influenced by the US, to the extent the politics forum on a hooker board is dominated by arguments between Republicans and Democrats, our govt policies on trade and commerce, culture, military and security policy are all impacted by what the US does. Similarly Russia has influence in their region.

When you form a military alliance whose sole purpose is to challenge Russian military might and influence and is objectively adversarial, moving closer and closer to Russia's borders is objectively a threat to Russia. They are completely right in saying so. They asked for security guarantees, for NATO to not expand, to reduce troops and weapons and for Ukraine to remain neutral. All of that was rejected and Russia was backed into a corner.

And here we are.
You were on much better ground when you just argued that we shouldn't be involved because it is far away and you don't care about what happens to other people.

So here's my question if this is your actual belief.

Who is owed a sphere of influence?
How is that decided?

That is my belief even now. Regardless of the conflict we shouldn't be spending our money over there. But if we were to dive deeper into the causes of this war, then these arguments come up. I kept saying earlier I wont get into that rabbit hole because it is already discussed to death and I got sucked in. So I will stop doing that now.

So here's my question if this is your actual belief.

Your question is not valid. Spheres of influence are not owed or granted. They just exist when a country is as powerful as Russia or the US. It is a concept. It is cultural, political, economic and military influence in their immediate geographical vicinity.

Read your own article. And yes, NATO would jump into direct intervention if both these developed nations were attacked.
Yes, they dialed back their language as it became obvious he was having too much trouble with Ukraine to effectively threaten Finland.

They were more strident earlier when they thought they could steamroll Ukraine.

I think the other article has more clarity on what these military consequences may be. Namely increasing stockpiles of nukes etc., Not necessarily an invasion. But as I said, Finland joining or not joining doesn't change much for Russia. They wouldn't have ever attacked Finland either way.

So Russia is not owed a sphere of influence and your entire argument is invalid?

Cool.

So you keep saying.
And yet Finland clearly no longer believes this due to Russia attacking Ukraine.
It's almost like Russia saying loudly they wouldn't attack Ukraine and that the US was lying about that and then doing it anyway convinced people they shouldn't be trusted and steps should be taken to defend themselves.

That is not what I said. I said your question about being "owed a sphere of influence" is invalid. Try again and this time don't be a bitch, try taking my statements at face value instead of trying to put a spin on words.

Russia had already attacked Ukraine in 2014, so a state of war was on. The invasion was predicated on the results of the talks that failed.

With Finland, they can believe what they want to, but realistically, Russia would have never attacked Finland. With or without NATO membership, NATO would have directly stepped in to help if that had happened. White privilege I think :ROFLMAO:

Because they are just tools of western imperialism. Nothing the ICC says or does is really of any merit. It is why even the US is not a party to the ICC. There is very valid and active criticism that the ICC just focuses on the wests enemies. Infact African nations routinely call it out for bias.

PS: You can laugh emoji all you want. I know a lot of it is mindless. If you see Val, mandy or Franky comment, you'd just hit like without reading and if I comment you'd just laugh emoji it just for the heck of it. Carry on. Its what people do when they dont have a response.
Your answer is nonsense and once again, a silly argument that deserves the

Secondly, you are wrong, I do read Mandi's, Vals and Franky's comments, and if I agree I post a (y), if I find their comments funny I post a :D. I've done the same for you on other topics but on Russia vs Ukraine your views, arguments, and entire points of debate are CA CA, merda, bullshit, childish and deserve to be mocked with as many :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:as possible. In these threads, I really do question your intelligence. To be clear, because you are a bit dense, these     in Russia the Evil Empire threads are meant as mocking, laughing at you not with you.

Okay then. Carry on. You can laugh at anything you want :ROFLMAO:

But then, why aren't you not able to come up with an intelligent rebuttal yourself against my "ca ca merda bullshit, childish arguments"? Every question you attempt basically has nothing to do with any attempt at rebuttal and you continue to exhibit very simplistic thinking. Your questions and beliefs on this show no nuance, just what you have heard in the news.

I've realized it is a waste of time because you are so dense and absorbed in the bullshit you sprew when it comes to Russia, you just keep going in circles ala Phil with masks don't work tail chasing. How anyone can justify Russia going into Ukraine with bombs, tanks and missiles, a country that was of no danger to them whatsoever is mind-boggling. I wonder how you would feel if the US decided it was time to invade Canada. I bet you would be out of here catching a flight to India as quickly as I can hit that emoji.

That is the point. I have not justified Russia invading Ukraine. I have said that the invasion is because of NATO expansion. How one cannot see that they are different statements is beyond me. I also dont understand how you dont understand that Ukraine joining NATO, or becoming a western puppet is a threat to Russia. I bet you consider NATO of no threat to Russia at all in the first place despite the fact that NATO is an anti-Russian MILITARY alliance (which effectively means NATO considers Russia to be an enemy). I also dont understand how you think US invading Canada is a valid comparison to Russia invading Ukraine. I know you came up with MTG taking over the whitehouse and other nutty scenarios, but seriously, its inexplicable.

And yes, India is my 2nd favorite country. I just got back from a 2 week work trip to Bangalore, India. I guess I missed 2 weeks of cold AF weather, which I am not regretting. Just hot weather, spicy food and an extended bathroom trip every now and then :ROFLMAO:

And speaking of India and NATO, this channel from India and this journalist are great. Give it a listen.

You accepting a wild excuse allowing a justification for Russia illegally invading a sovereign country = justifying it. You can spin it any way you want, but it is exactly as I stated. Ukraine was not going to be allowed into Nato and while Russia was at the border ready to attack, they could have asked for it in writing and I'm sure it would have been accepted as an agreement, instead, they chose rockets, missiles and supplying their own citizens as meat waves. How you can not see this is insanity at best.

Again. 9 corridors to plug up to believe they are safe. Finland is the 9th. Over 800 miles of boarder to defend there…. And every resident is required to do their military duty. They are armed and dangerous.

They did. In 2021 before the war started, there were security guarantees that Russia demanded. One of them was for Ukraine and other states to not be allowed to accede to NATO (aka no further expansion). NATO flatly refused.

So these are not wild excuses. This is you not being willing to actually look at the facts.

Finland was never an issue. Also generally speaking, every resident being asked to do military duty doesn't mean they are combat ready or that they are dangerous for being armed. I mean in a modern war those weapons dont mean much.

For a guy that keeps claiming to not want to go further into the rabbit hole of insanity, you keep on doing so.

Here you go, go ahead, spin, spin in that dark hole. If you feel anything furry, do not worry because it's just a rabbit's ear if not, call JC!!!

Reading and comprehending is your friend!!!

President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is no longer pressing for NATO membership for Ukraine, a delicate issue that was one of Russia's stated reasons for invading its pro-Western neighbor.

In another apparent nod aimed at placating Moscow, Zelensky said he is open to "compromise" on the status of two breakaway pro-Russian territories that President Vladimir Putin recognized as independent just before unleashing the invasion on February 24.
"I have cooled down regarding this question a long time ago after we understood that ... NATO is not prepared to accept Ukraine," Zelensky said in an interview aired Monday night on ABC News.
