Russell Brand would be a difficult guy to debate because he is charming and charismatic and can unleash a firehose of disinformation that is difficult to respond to.
IMHO…Russell Brand has evolved into the British equivalent of Joe Rogan. I have his content blocked on social media.

I think that people like Brand, Rogan or Peterson can't be controlled by people like Trudeau.
That's why they would like to silence them.
They can easily divide the voters by things that they control, like Chinese spy balloons or how transphobic most of us are.

I think of it differently. I don’t find Brand or Rogan to be reliable, accurate sources of information. They both tend to align themselves with conspiracy theories, COVID disinformation, support for Putin, etc. under the guise of “just asking questions.”
The views they espouse are, imho, toxic and harmful to others. If I engage with them it is only to debunk their latest conspiracy theory but it never seems to make much difference; in fact, it probably makes it worse.
So in my opinion the best way to contribute to a constructive discourse is to avoid engaging with people who are not arguing in “good faith” (for lack of a better phrase).

And he is not an exception, he is the rule. We're lucky we live in the internet era where information cannot be suppressed...for too long. But, they sure try. I don't blame them- it's their grift. I blame the morons who fall for it.
Brand doesn't shut up and allow John to get a word in. He's a pompous ass.
I think it is almost impossible to win a debate with a guy like Brand on a talk show format like Bill Maher’s. He will interrupt, talk over you, and shift back and forth between cracking jokes, changing the topic, and “just asking questions”- he is entertaining in a way that is difficult to keep up with.
I’m not sure if he is a good debater but I think he is an excellent entertainer.
