It seems like every day I'm getting a phone call from someone claiming to be calling from Rogers about a special $79.95 all-inclusive promotion. This is a phishing scam. There's no mention of this promotion on the Rogers website.

The company calling might or might not have some affiliation with Rogers, but the purpose of the call is to find out the name of your current provider(s) for phone/ Internet/ TV. It's the first question they'll ask, but the script is not always the same. One of them said "Now your current supplier is Bell, am I right?". I always answer "That's none of your business", and the conversation never goes any further. One of them says 'the promotion is only available to current customers of Bell', which would probably be illegal, if it was true.

I have a long list of blocked numbers on my phone, beauty with the phone, you can hang up anytime you like, and that is what I do.

With Rogers I call them every 2 years to keep my bills low. They always have rates that are lower that what ever my current bill is for long time clients but you have to ask them.

There are Rogers and Bell resellers that often target new subdivisions. They don't work for Rogers, but they legitmately sell Rogers services. I'm not saying that's what's happening here, but that does happen.

I think they buy a large block of time (at a discount?) and resell it to their clients/

this...... Montyy is right...................................every 16/18 months i phone Rogers and ask them if im missing any discounts or promotions........or i politely mention to the customer service rep that i may check rates elsewhere..........i may not get some unannounced promotion..i will negotiate a lower price...and i always receive some discount....the secret is to be patient and respectful and not be too greedy

If you're currently a customer of Rogers, you're not going to get the calls from them phishing to try to find out the name(s) of your media suppliers.
