It is the saddest thing to see. I moved to USA because I - like most of my countrymen -admired everything American.

Do you still admire our ability to overcome adversity? Keep your fingers crossed...

Trump represent everything other developed countries hate about the USA.

Greed. Over confident uncultured prick. Lack of humility. Over ego.

Not all Americans are like that but enough to categorize them as such. And Trump is simply the worst of them all.

He represent the absolute worst of what capitalism can bring. That does not mean capitalism is not the best government system in the world. It is. Still it can go wrong. Trump's an example of how wrong it can go.

Yet the US has the highest immigration in the world? Ironic for a place that apparently no one favours right?
Well there is some truth that about 100 or countries are worse than the USA and thus would want to leave and come to the USA, or anywhere better.
They could go anywhere in theory but they go the USA - why?

Even if the USA had the same draw as Canada, with its size alone, ceteris paribus the USA would allow it to have 10 times the immigration of that of Canada. In other words, Canada would have to be 10 times more popular to tie the raw number of immigration that comes to the states. The current numbers are c 600 k inthe USA and 300 k to Canada - when factoring in the size of the country the USA is about 1/5 as popular as Canada or possible restricting immigration far more harshly than Canada.
Even so, there are two spots in the USA for every one in Canada - your odds are better to apply to the USA (ou can apply to both of course.)

On the above chart no a single country could mathematical beat USA immigration based on popularity and population -assuming popularity and size where the only factors.

The most important factor is that only a handful, close to two countries in the world allow large masses of immigration, and the USA is one of them.

Japan , zero immigration of non Japanese on a typical year. You can marry a Japanese and you still can't immigrate. Rare exceptions under 100 a year are made for exceptional cases

Japanese families, having come from Korean 100s of years ago have have no citizenship at all since Japan considers them Korean, and Korea considers them Japanese (as they like African Canadians know nothing of Kenya the Congo or what ever country their families once came.)

Most Asian countries have similar polices.

The raw fact is that many people come to the USA because its their best choice not because its great, but because it lets them in -Cubans for example get automatic citizenship.
Since most of the world makes pennies an hour even a job where you boss pays you less than half of your wages your doing better but the world bar is set very low - but not on the above list. Most of those countries just reject immigration out of hand at least compared to North America.

It’s hard to tell if you’re describing Trump or Torontonians?

The most important factor is that only a handful, close to two countries in the world allow large masses of immigration, and the USA is one of them.

Japan , a very popular wealthy country allows zero immigration of non Japanese. You can marry a Japanese and you still can't immigrate. Japanese families, having come from Korean 100s of years ago have no citizenship at all since. Rare exceptions under 100 a year are made for exceptional cases IJapan considers them Korean, and Korea doesn't know they exist.

You can live and work there - but not immigrate.

Until very recently Germany had 3 generations of other country workers, all born in German but refused German citizenship. They have done a major shift but not anywhere close to the USA
France has as similar problem but alows immigratoin from some former colonies fairly easily.
Plus, the fact is most countries consider themselves full.

Then added that the international language is English - so most people are stuck immigrating to a country that speaks English - a handful of other languages have international status (French, the former international language for one, but only spoken in a handful of countries

So it your desperate to escape the USA is on the top of your list and that list in general is very short for most.
We take it for granted that a liberal immigration policy is standard but in truth I be suprised if 3% of the world has even vaguely similar policies.

Is English your first language?

:ROFLMAO:

You made me laugh. Still as a frequent visitor of Toronto for the last 20 years (along with many many trip to the US) I do not agree. Torontonians are way beyond what I see in the US regarding arrogant over ego prick. Again it's important not to generalize but let's be frank humility has never been in the book of the average American ;)

If an election was held in Canada today, the Liberals would get a majority. Better than at the last elections. So, nawwww, the honeymoon is not over:

I am sure you see the same number in Ontario and in Quebec where Ford and Legault would get reelected by high margins. People recognize how well they handle the pandemic so far. They cared and listened their top health adviser. Not that hard when you think about it.
