I mean actual players with merit, Gretzky, lemieux, Orr. Of course the league and TV channels will do it, as well as the family. Normally players would be chiming in too.

Wow sportsnet congratulated him, what an honour lol. What about team Twitter accounts, any of them say anything?

Did Howes grandson congratulate him, anyone else?
Not just the grandson (whoever he is) but the whole family including HOF'er Mark.

I the hockey world was silent that tells you their attitude towards it.
What the hell are you talking about? Why are you so angry?

So the league, the commissioner, a rights holding broadcaster, every sportscast, every sports talk show, a HOF'er, the whole team that he's playing against are not part of the hockey world? The game was stopped to acknowledge it.

Owen Nolan
Larry Robinson
John Tavares
Matthews
Marner
Marleau heard pregame from “tons” of teammates via text messages, as well as from the Howe family and hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
Representatives from the Bay Area’s other pro sports teams recorded a pregame message, those coming from the A’s Mark Canha, the Giants’ Mike Yastrzemski, the 49ers’ Mike McGlinchey and Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr.

Most games played is a marginal accomplishment imo. Marleau had a good career but isn't much more than a trivia question.
.67 points per game, an average career by nhl standards.
He'll get in for the games played record, he averaged 24 goals a year, plus he's hanging on now just to get the record, not very admirable. Averaged 50 pts a year and had a few point a game years. Average to slightly above average career due to longevity, nothing more.

Tkachuk, turgeon, roenick, fleury not in and marleau in, yeah right, only because of games if he does. He doesn't come close to any of those guys.
And TBH, it seems kind of odd that you are concerned that you feel that the hockey world didn't give proper due to a guy whose career "isn't much more than a trivia question", had an "average career" and he had to "hang on to get the record, which is not admirable". Not really a HoF career.

Your posts in this thread are rather contradictory.

I thought he might noy get many congrats because he kind of backed into the record, and it's kind of a minimal accomplishment.

Great person by all accounts but the record is ho hum imo. He should have tied him and retired, nobody will want him next year.

People playing beyond their best before dates is all too common, unfortunately. I think boxing is the worst. Holmes beating Ali to a pulp was hard to watch. In baseball, the first name I think of is Willie Mays.

Trying to stay in a Happy Place
If Mr. Hockey was still alive he would probably be glad that if he was to be passed in NHL games played it was by a very humble fellow Saskatchewan native from a tiny farming community.

Below is the tribute from the Detroit Red Wings official twitter account.

With tonight’s game, Patrick Marleau has officially surpassed Gordie Howe on the
@NHL’s all-time games played list. Congrats on an incredible milestone, Patty! #HistoryMarleaud

Have big respect for athletes who maintain a top form for a long time. It's hard to maintain a good mental and health form for such a significant period, especially in the NHL. I know all this because I am also an athlete but in cybersport. I play Minecraft, and I participate in contests or play on servers like minecraft pixelmon servers. So I can understand how hard it can be to always maintain a sharp skill level. Anyway, I really hope that Patrick Marleau won't retire soon, and he will play in NHL for a long time.
